Quality, variety and durability go hand-in-hand within the product program of Zwaagstra Beton BV. By doing so, the Hoogeveen family business, specialized in the manufacture of concrete products for the infra and agricultural sector, lays a solid foundation for the most diverse infrastructure projects. Or as co-director Richard Zwaagstra puts it, "We help our customers achieve the business goals they have formulated."
Zwaagstra Beton has gained a prominent place on the "concrete map" over the years. This is mainly due to the rich assortment of products the company offers the market. For example, knock on Zwaagstra's door successfully when there is a need for retaining walls, line drainage gutters and project-specific customized solutions. For footings, guide walls for deep-wall tunnels and foundation plates for solar parks, Lindberghstraat 18 in Hoogeveen is also the address. Top of the list, however, is the concrete slab, a product with which it all started within the Drenthe company walls. Zwaagstra Beton makes about 1,500 of them every day. In many sizes and structures, equipped with a variety of reinforcements and extremely durable. "Every concrete slab that leaves our factory consists of 100% recycled materials, such as ECO granulate, ECO sand and ECO gravel," says Richard Zwaagstra, who heads the company with father Harry. "They are all secondary raw materials acquired from cleaned tar asphalt. In this way, we avoid having to extract new sand and gravel. In fact, this approach is a perfect example of circular thinking. In this way Zwaagstra Beton is also contributing to a better world."
The green path to tomorrow is walked at Zwaagstra Beton by an experienced team of some 45 driven employees. Specialists who actively contribute to the development of new concrete products and thus indirectly contribute to the further growth and development of the company. A good example of thinking and doing together is the swept broom plate, a novelty that is on a steady rise. Available in various designs and sizes, this type of board is brushed immediately after pouring, giving it an extra rough top layer and providing more grip and stability. That makes this product, which incidentally is also available as a corner slab, ideally suited for infrastructure locations where there are heavy loads and intensive use. "In that context, you can think of roads, parking lots, storage areas and sidewalks," Richard says. "Moreover, with thicknesses of 14, 16 and even 20 centimeters, we meet the increasing demand for thicker concrete slabs. For example, the latest variant has an axle load of as much as 40 tons."
