Andrea Vollebregt new director Association of Hydraulic Engineers

Andrea Vollebregt started as the new director of the Association of Hydraulic Engineers on January 1, 2020. In doing so, she succeeds Edwin Lokkerbol who has been the association's director for more than five years.

Vollebregt (39) has been working for the association as Senior Advisor Market since last May. Before that, she worked for the Port of Rotterdam Authority as Manager of External Affairs Germany for ten years, among other things. Andrea Vollebregt is pleased with her appointment. "I am looking forward to working even more broadly for this sector that has important added value for the BV Nederland, but which is also on the eve of major changes."

The Netherlands faces major challenges in the areas of sustainability, circularity and climate adaptation. Hydraulic engineers have the knowledge and skills to make an important contribution to these goals. It is important to further shape these themes in practice and in cooperation with clients. The current (inter)national political playing field, with themes such as nitrogen, PFAS and the European Green Deal, also require strong advocacy. The board is confident that Andrea Vollebregt is the right person to shape this successfully.
