More and more service stations are selling AdBlue® to make diesel engine emissions less harmful. According to transport legislation (ADR), AdBlue is a soil hazardous substance, requiring soil protection facilities. To prevent excessive amounts of AdBlue from entering sewage systems or surface water, ACO has developed the AdBlue Protector. This will soon be on display at the Tank Station Trade Fair on November 6 and 7.
Gas stations often have an above-ground storage tank for AdBlue®, an additive that makes diesel engine exhaust emissions less harmful. Because of the above-ground storage, there is a real possibility of disaster. Consider a truck damaging the AdBlue storage tank, causing a sudden large amount of AdBlue to be discharged into the sewage system or surface water.
Because AdBlue dissolves well in water, separation is not easy. The ACO AdBlue-Protector works by specific gravity, because AdBlue is heavier than water. If the concentration of AdBlue (from 15%) in water is too high, the AdBlue-Protector closes the drain. A rise in water in the drainage system triggers the flood alarm. The AdBlue-Protector is designed so that when it is installed, it is possible to choose whether the mixture should be discharged to the sewer, into the buffer tank or remain on the floor dust-proof floor in the event of a disaster. This prevents this soil hazardous liquid from entering the environment.
In existing situations, the ACO AdBlue-Protector (in place of the current sampling device) can easily be placed behind the oil and gasoline separator and serve as a monitoring well. The AdBlue-Protector is available for high and low connection depths (60 and 120 cm) and is placed underground. The ACO AdBlue-Protector is made of PE and has a cast iron cover and a concrete load distribution plate. These materials are resistant to various substances that can be expected at a gas station. An access shaft with a diameter of 600 mm allows inspections and cleanings to be carried out properly. The AdBlue-Protector is suitable for traffic with a load class up to D400.
The Tankstation Vakbeurs will take place on November 6 and 7 in the Expo Houten. ACO can be found in the stand of the Antea Group, specialist in the field of construction and maintenance of gas stations including sewage. The Antea Group was approached by a major oil company for an AdBlue® emergency facility. Subsequently, Antea Group sought cooperation with ACO, given its expertise in the collection and treatment of contaminated water and because ACO is a renowned party in oil and gasoline separators.
The ACO Group is a global leader in the field of water management. Thanks to its many years of knowledge and experience, ACO knows how important water is for people and nature.
