The international INTERMAT Innovation Awards competition rewards equipment, technology, services or products that contribute to driving progress in the construction, infrastructure and minerals industry and to achieving major transitions in the sector. The ninth edition takes place in the context of the next edition of INTERMAT, the trade fair for sustainable infrastructure solutions and technology, which takes place from April 24 to 27 at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition complex (Paris, France).
INTERMAT 2024 exhibitors and co-exhibitors participating in the competition benefit from unique visibility before, during and after the fair to promote the innovation of a product, service, equipment, technology or solution and give it national and international publicity. Exhibitors are invited to participate in five categories corresponding to the sectors of the fair:
New at this ninth edition is the New Technologies and Energy category (electric, hydrogen, natural gas, autonomous vehicles, virtual engineering, etc.), as well as four special awards presented to companies offering a specific innovation:
The jury of the INTERMAT Innovation Awards, composed mainly of users, experts from companies or agencies in the construction sector, is made up of nine French and seven international members involved in the themes of carbon-free and energy, but also in the areas of cost savings, safety or training, all of which are important themes at the 2024 edition of the fair.
The jury selects entries whose product, service, equipment or technology contributes to a breakthrough in terms of cost savings, engineering design and technology used, operation, use and environmental protection, and ultimately designates the winners in the five categories and those of the four special awards.
International judges:
A word from Michele Levati, Lombardini 22: "I believe that technological development is one of the essential drivers by which we can seriously address the climate crisis we are experiencing, and INTERMAT is one of the events where we can take stock of the limits of this development. It will undoubtedly be an opportunity to compare the development of the different sectors in the construction world, which is becoming larger and more complex and therefore of great interest to us as designers. For example, I think it will be very interesting to look closely at how the demolition sector is changing, with a particular focus on selective demolition and material reuse, a topic that is crucial to decarbonizing the construction world and on which much progress still needs to be made!"
The French judges:
A word from Frédéric Peigne, Société du Grand Paris: ''Having spent more than 30 years in the construction industry on energy, environmental and transportation projects in France and abroad, I am honored to be a juror in the competition that distinguishes best practices in construction. Using a wide range of construction technologies, the Grand Paris Express lines 16 and 17 project is a transportation project, but more importantly a project to develop the Ile-de-France region that will transform the daily lives of millions of users. In the strong belief that innovation in construction will contribute to significant gains in worker protection, operational carbon footprint and competitiveness of contractors, I look forward to this participation as a moment of exchange and sharing, and I hope to distinguish the new practices in our field.
