The intensive search for new renewable energy sources is a huge challenge for the Netherlands. After all, by 2050 the entire energy transition to a completely sustainable energy supply must be realized.

The soil is a great available source of energy. Soil energy systems already extract energy from that soil to heat buildings, among other things. However, another renewable energy source that remains virtually untapped is that of surface and groundwater. One way to make optimal use of this source is through activated steel sheet pile walls. With the patented Energy Dam Walls of Future Energy Technologies (F.E.T.), this infinitely available energy source of the (ground) water can be optimally utilized, as this source is available 24/7.

In the Netherlands, many steel sheet pile walls are already being used for ground and/or water retaining structures. Especially in the coming years, many sheet pile walls will be installed for new construction projects, canals or for quay walls to be renovated in city centers. A new, additional function of these steel sheet piles is that of an infinite source of energy: the Energy Sheet Piling. This allows homes and buildings to be easily heated and cooled using this renewable energy.

The steel sheet pile walls are fitted with collectors and then installed in the ground. A special fluid flows through the collectors, which extracts sustainable energy from the (ground) water. Through heat pumps, this allows buildings to be heated and cooled throughout the year. This free energy source is infinitely available and is literally on your doorstep. If the heat pump also generates its electrical energy through solar panels, the entire system is energy- and carbon-neutral.
