Following successful cooperation on the A2 ring road near 's-Hertogenbosch and the A2/N2 near Eindhoven, Heijmans is also calling on the expertise of EVL infrawerken for the widening of the A1. The versatile specialist deals with "everything in the air," such as permanent signage, signalization and public lighting.
EVL infrawerken's first efforts on the A1 project date back some time, begins director Erwin Verweij. "We were called in in response to a calamity. Heijmans was trying to divert traffic. However, the subcontractor in question did not manage to convert the signaling and adjust the cabling. So on Friday evening at 11:45 p.m. we received the request to assist. Given the stakes, we complied immediately so that the traffic could be rerouted that same night."
EVL Infrawerken specializes in realizing permanent signage, signage, beaconing, lighting and temporary traffic measures. "On the A1, among other things, we are taking care of hanging the ANWB signage, the signage and mounting the lighting fixtures on the permanent light masts. Of course, everything is phased and in good consultation according to Heijmans' planning," says Erwin. "We are proud to have gained the trust of such a renowned party as Heijmans in a relatively short time. For example, we have previously assembled over 1,800 lighting fixtures on the A2/N2 using our truck-mounted aerial platforms, and we have been busy assembling signage and signage a little further on the A2 ring road near 's-Hertogenbosch. The A1 project is a nice follow-up to that."
EVL infraworks is a relatively young player in the market and founded in 2019 by Erwin with his wife Lisette as the driving force in the background. Erwin has a past as a contractor in the world of permanent signage. "At some point I took the step to start for myself," he says. And that quickly proved to be a success. "The market we operate in is very small, it's us knows us. After purchasing the first truck-mounted boom lift, the second and third soon followed. Now we are in the transition phase in which we are accelerating the renewal of the second-hand machines we purchased at the time. The first new truck mounted work platform will be delivered in mid-March and a second, identical machine, also the fifth in our fleet, will be delivered at the end of April. So we rightly have a young and durable fleet, which also includes three open-body buses, two mini-excavators and a bucket truck with a truck-mounted crane."
The wide range of machinery makes EVL infraworks completely self-sufficient. "We work closely with my brother's company, which mainly takes care of groundwork. This allows us to completely unburden a party like Heijmans. Our employees are also all broadly deployable. One day they erect a steel scaffold, the next day a mast and the following evening the same person comes with the truck-mounted aerial platform to mount the signs or lighting fixtures." In addition to working for Heijmans, EVL infrawerken also regularly works for the other major infra contractors in our country. "We are the most specialized subcontractor in this particular field." Erwin therefore expects to enter into more and more partnerships in the future in which contractors will be completely relieved of all their worries.
