Van Doorn has special first for the Netherlands with Bucher V65e

The Geldermalsen-based company will deploy the emission-free and whisper-quiet sweeper truck on its own projects for governments and companies. In addition, the Bucher V65e will soon be available for rent to third parties.

Founded in 1963, the company designs, shapes and maintains (business) sites, infrastructure and green spaces. 'Van Doorn shapes the outdoor space of tomorrow,' reads its appealing motto and mission: 'A sustainable, beautiful and safe outdoor space for everyone.' In that context, we speak with father Barend and son Robert van Doorn about the new acquisition. To begin with, they call the V65e an "important step forward on the green sustainable road." When asked if more will follow, the answer is affirmative; in the near future, Van Doorn's machinery fleet will be expanded with even more electrically driven machines and vehicles.

ELECTRIC FIRSTLING

The Bucher V65e is the first electrically powered sweeper truck from Bucher Municipal in Dorking, England. There, the unique CO2-neutral and whisper-quiet sweeper truck was fully custom-built, tested and painted in the recognizable Van Doorn yellow. Upon arrival in our country, the V65e went directly to Terberg Matec Nederland BV in IJsselstein, where the machine was finished and lettered so that it can be officially presented this spring.

SMOOTH FLOW SUCTION SYSTEM

The Bucher V65e is a 100% electric, chassis-borne sweeper that will be mass-produced. The battery capacity is 200 kWh and the payload 44 kW. Not only the drive for driving, by the way, has been made electric, explains Robert van Doorn. "Thanks to Johnston's completely new and patented Smooth Flow suction system, the suction power of this powerhouse has been greatly improved, energy consumption has been greatly reduced and it makes less noise."

Due to the mist spraying jets, 20% less water is consumed from the 1,554-liter water tank. Robert therefore calls the V65e "the solution for emission-free sweeping" combined with a sufficiently long deployment time, great ease of use and low operating costs. Moreover, according to Van Doorn, the V65e offers the highest quality and reliability in the field of sweepers.

CLEAN AND WHISPER QUIET

Sustainability, CO2 reduction and whisper quiet were the main reasons for purchasing the Bucher V65e. Because, says Robert, "that makes our new powerhouse very suitable for sweeping within built-up areas. With a driving range of 200 km on a single battery charge, the emission-free V65e consumes less than 1 kWh per kilometer. A comparable diesel-powered sweeper consumes, including supply and disposal, about 150 liters of fuel per day. So that with this electric sweeper, we thus save over 97 tons of CO2 and 25,000 liters of diesel on an annual basis."

SAFETY IMPORTANT MOTIVE

Safety played an important role in the purchase. In fact, thanks to the wireless radio controller, the operator can walk around the sweeper completely cordless, adjust the wide sweeping brush and check the surroundings before opening or tipping the hopper. When it is dark, the operator can easily see the brush position due to the clearly visible brush plates and hose ferrules. Finally, the V65e comes standard with an LED work light for the sweeping brush and a wide range of additional LED and hazard warning lights.
