As Fliegl's distributor in the Benelux, Ludo Pauwels has added a unique body for 5-axle trucks to Baukom's program. Jan Meerkerk, representative of Fliegl in the Netherlands, tells more.
"In 2008, we launched the shear technology within earth moving. After a smooth start, there are already about 100 of these vehicles on the road in the Benelux. Whereas in Germany many 4-axles are driving around, in the Netherlands they are mostly 5-axles," continued Meerkerk. "Because the demand for a push-off bucket for 5-axle trucks was increasing, I went together with Martin Fliegl to inquire with customers about their requirements."
"To be able to utilize the front axle, it was important that the bucket would lie as far as possible against the cab. By working with a special cylinder, we were able to achieve that." Currently, the bodybuilder is in the process of building the shearbox.
The body has a thermobucket: insulated with a 7 cm thick rigid foam plate, which keeps the product in the bucket at a good temperature. "Especially with asphalt, this is very important," Meerkerk adds. "This way, in combination with the shear system, a homogeneous product is discharged into the asphalt paver, which benefits the life of the asphalt."

This horizontal unloading system for the 5-axle vehicle is -in addition to asphalt- suitable for all road construction products, such as sand, gravel, clay and crushed rubble. "This is because our body is completely made of steel and there are no rotating parts in the body. In our version, the 2 cylinders slide the load out of the bucket in 2 stages, so maintenance is very limited. That makes this shear bucket very versatile." When the 5-axle is equipped with a motor PTO, the shear system can be operated while driving. "The first body has already been sold, to an existing customer who already drives our shear trailer," says Meerkerk. "From the positive experience of the first trailer, its wider usability and lower maintenance, they are now also choosing this variant."
In addition to the new superstructure, Ludo Pauwels is also engaged in the sale of Fliegl tilt trailers. These are characterized by the simple but smart German construction method and have as major advantages fantastic stability, light weight and a larger loading capacity, which reduces fuel consumption and CO2-savings. A 27 cubic meter dump trailer sits at a weight of 5500 kilos. "That is extremely low for a steel dump trailer," concludes Meerkerk, "While no concessions have been made to quality and sturdiness!"
