The three redesigned mini-excavators were recently presented by Yanmar Compact Equipment EMEA.
The new minis are described by Yanmar as "Robust, reliable and versatile, with impressive performance in a very compact package - perfect for urban job sites where space is at a premium." They have a short turning radius combined with a wide range of boom adjustment to the left. There is a choice of cab or canopy versions, both of which offer intuitive operation and plenty of space for excavators in this weight class.
The mini excavators are easy to transport and the engine compartment is easily accessible for maintenance thanks to a wider engine hood. The side panels are quick to disassemble and the removable cab floor gives direct access to hydraulic components, the fuel and hydraulic tanks plus the radiator.
The new series of mini excavators uses Yanmar's ViPPS hydraulic system, which combines power and speed with precision, enabling smooth and simultaneous operation of digging and slewing actions. These compact mini excavators can also optionally use Yanmar's Smart Assist Remote, the fleet management system whose data can be read remotely and in real time on PC or smartphone.
Safety comes first at Yanmar, and we see that reflected in the achievement of ROPS, TOPS and FOPS certifications for both the canopy and cab variants. For the operator, optimal all-round visibility is also important. Powerful LED work lights and an orange seat belt are standard, and a seat belt sensor is available as an option. The new triplets are now available to order from dealers and distributors in Belgium (Cebeko, FM Bouwmachines, Gecimat) and the Netherlands (Geert-Jan de Kok).
A standard trailer with a gross weight of 2.5 tons is sufficient to transport this small powerhouse including associated attachments. In fact, the SV15 VT has a transport weight of 1,465 kg (canopy) or 1,555 kg (cab) and standard four attachment points on the running gear. It derives its performance from the Stage V-compliant, three-cylinder diesel engine with indirect injection from Yanmar's well-known TNV series. This provides a digging force of 7.4 kN on the stick and 12.9 kN on the bucket with low fuel consumption. The dual gear pump hydraulic system delivers a flow rate of 28.6 liters per minute at a maximum pressure of 205 bar.
With its short turning radius and large swivel range, the SV15VT can be used anywhere. The width-adjustable undercarriage (990 to 1170 mm) also adds to its versatility. It has two travel speeds: 2.4 and 4.8 km/h.
At 1,570 kg (canopy) and 1,660 kg (cab), the SV17 VT is not much heavier than the SV15 VT and therefore just as easy to transport between work sites, which is certainly an advantage for cable layers and in landscaping. In terms of power and performance, it takes a big step toward larger models. Its digging force is at 9.9/16 kN (stick/bucket) and traction force at 12.8 and 8 kN, respectively.
The largest of the three - it weighs about 1.9 tons - the SV19VT is equipped with a Stage V engine from the Yanmar 3TNV platform. The break-up force is 11.4/16.7 kN (dipperstick/bucket) and the traction force 12.9 kN. Travel speed is 2.4 or 4.4 km/h. The ViPPS hydraulic system delivers 39 liters/min at a maximum pressure of 220 bar. With its a width-variable undercarriage (980 to 1,320 mm), wide swivel range and optional additional 50 kg counterweight, it should offer great stability, flexibility and working range in addition to strength.
