The master of all roads Flexible 5-axle

The master of all roads Flexible 5-axle vehicle

The new Liebherr LTM 1100-5.3 mobile crane with 100-ton lifting capacity was presented to the public for the first time at the 2022 Bauma trade fair. A whole host of new features make this 100-ton crane the most flexibly deployable mobile crane in its class, which is why Liebherr coined it with the slogan "The Master of all roads.

That slogan then refers primarily to the topic of flexible axle loads. Through an innovative construction method, the deadweight is reduced and the crane can respond optimally to the maximum permissible axle load per country for mobile cranes.

The construction of the axles is such that they are suitable for the maximum permissible axle loads valid in different countries.

However, the LTM 1100-5.3 can also run with axle loads of 12 tons and can carry 16.9 tons of counterweight in that case. That amounts to 75 % of the maximum counterweight of 22.5 tons, which is a record value. This makes the LTM 1100-5.3 the ideal "cab crane.

Another advantage of the LTM 1100-5.3 is its width of 2550 mm, which keeps the crane handy to manipulate on the road and in the yard. In fact, it is the world's first 5-axle mobile crane with that width.

62 meter telescopic mast

At 62 meters in length, the telescopic mast is even two meters longer than the next Liebherr crane, the LTM 1110-5.2. In addition, a folding jib from 9.5 to 16 meters is available, which is optionally hydraulically adjustable between 0° and 40°. This increases the lifting height of the LTM 1100-5.3 to 76 meters and the outreach to 64 meters. Even more flexibility is offered with a 2-meter-long mounting jib.

A plus in safety

The 100-ton crane offers additional safety during work due to the variable VarioBase® outrigger. More flexibility was again considered here, as the standard VarioBallast® allows adjustment of the ballast radius between 4 and 5.1 meters.

Safety is also provided by the now third generation of the Liebherr Computed Control (LICCON) control system. The controls remained the same, but the software, programming language and data bus are completely new, faster and offer higher computing power.

The touch function on the large display in the control cab has made operation even easier and more comfortable. LICCON3 cranes are also prepared for telemetry and fleet management as standard. Via the customer portal MyLiebherr, the crane operator can retrieve and process all relevant data.

New cabs

For the LTM 1100-5.3, Liebherr developed both a new cab for the driving section and for the crane section. This should further improve comfort for the crane operator, including new materials, new controls, a steering wheel with more control functions, new displays and control buttons. Optionally, this can be complemented by central locking and the "Coming and Leaving Home" function.

For both more cabs, the climate control was modified and equipped with a sun sensor that recognizes the intensity of solar radiation and automatically adjusts the heating.

ZF TraXon DynamicPerform

The new LTM 1100-5.3 uses the innovative clutch module DynamicPerform. In combination with the ZF Traxon gearbox, this ensures wear-free driving off and maneuvering without danger of heating, as the engine power is transmitted through a lamellar pack with oil cooling.
