Sweco wins prestigious mobility awards: Fleet Owner of the Year and Safety Award

Sweco scores very high marks with its innovative mobility policy among specialists from the fleet sector. During the link2fleet awards, Vicky De Bollen, Director Finance, Facility & Legal at Sweco Belgium, won the coveted title of Fleet Owner of the Year 2019 and was awarded 1st place in the Safety category. This is clear recognition for the pioneering work on sustainable mobility for and by our employees.

On June 20, the 23rd edition of the link2fleet awards took place in palace 10 of Brussels Expo. These awards honor best practices from the Belgian fleet and mobility sector. From all submitted dossiers, 10 fleet managers were finally invited to defend their fleet management in front of a professional jury.

Vicky De Bollen represented Sweco with verve. Her strong presentation on the innovative mobility policy for its own employees was visibly appreciated by the judges. We won the title Fleet Owner of the Year and the Safety Award, which are great accolades for all the mobility initiatives initiated by Sweco!

The greening of mobility, the deployment of progressive tools and the maximum electrification of the vehicle fleet are therefore particular achievements. Those pillars of Sweco's Mobility Policy pass in this animated videothe revue.

Steps to greener mobility
At Sweco, promoting and facilitating sustainable mobility follows a cascading principle. First, we try to reduce the number of trips. To this end, we use teleworking in combination with high-performance cloud services and consultations via Skype, for example. If relocation is required, employees have a wide range of alternative modes of transportation that they can use to suit their needs. In certain cases, the car is the most appropriate choice, but the wide range of alternatives makes employees less car-dependent. By the way, we foresee a gradual transition to electric cars.

Swiss army knife for all mobility needs
Sweco offices are located as accessible as possible, near multimodal hubs and train stations. Moreover, employees have a ready-made toolbox of flexible measures at their disposal. Besides well-known initiatives, such as shared and pool bicycles, bicycle leasing, Cambio, carpool and free public transport, Sweco also provides innovative solutions where 'Mobility-as-a-Service' (MaaS) is the guiding principle. For example, we use the Olympus app (Artemis) to present the alternatives in a very accessible and attractive way. Tickets for public transport and shared bicycles and cars are just a finger-tip away.

Maximum deployment of electric cars
Those trips that, because of the route or other constraints, are still made by car, Sweco makes them as sustainable as possible. This includes the rapid transition to a fleet of electric and gasoline-only vehicles. In every company car category, we offer a fully-fledged electric alternative. Thanks to an e-car roadshow with test drives, we are paving the way for electric driving and guiding employees who make the switch. In the long term, the fleet will consist solely of electric models.
