Sifting, breaking, sorting : a specialty for connoisseurs

Sifting, breaking, sorting : a specialty for connoisseurs

"It's a bit of a hobby that got out of hand," Freddy Gillis says jokingly. The company is the importer of a number of well-established brands for sales, rental and repair, and now supplies outside the Benelux countries to Poland, Russia, Romania, Britain, France, Greece, Morocco, Israel, Egypt, Benin, Nigeria, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Oman.

"It is first and foremost a matter of knowledge and, through that knowledge, service and experience, gaining the customer's trust," Freddy Gillis explains. "We do much more than just sell machines. Thinking along with the customer is a prerequisite. So we make sure that machines are exactly suitable for the customer's work. If this is not possible with a standard machine we adapt the machines ourselves or combine different machines. Moreover, thanks to our knowledge and experience, we know exactly what is possible and that customization is greatly appreciated by the customer. We consciously concentrate on one market segment in order not to take up too much space. We limit ourselves to machines for sorting, screening and crushing."

An example of GM Recycling's innovativeness is the water-bath system, devised with an Irish manufacturer. The water bath system was named Hydra FS 1400 and is available static, on skid-container system and on tracks. The water bath can be combined with a crusher or screen and results in high-quality granules. The water bath is equipped with a float system that allows the water level to rise or fall as needed. Brushes that gently rotate over the water level remove the waste particles. The waste removed, such as wood or plastic particles, goes on a belt and ends up in a separate container. Stones go on another belt and are washed, turning the sludge out separately into another container. A magnet removes small iron and metal particles. Finally, the debris falls through the belt into a pile. "A compact and technically simple but very efficient system," states Freddy Gilis.

Only top machines

"Other reasons why customers love coming to us is the fact that we distribute only top brands and provide a very comprehensive 24-hour service. The customer can count on us at any time. In fact, this is one of the reasons why we took over a transport company, namely to be able to deliver the machines ourselves. By the way, many customers buy their machines from us including maintenance, so they can be sure of optimal maintenance. In that context, we are also planning a move to a larger site in the coming years. A site has already been purchased for this purpose in the industrial zone of Eeklo. Meanwhile, we also already have an office in Dubai under the name GM Trading."

Of the top brands, the Swiss brand GIPO is one of GM Recycling's showpieces. Freddy Gilis: "GIPO is an innovative world player. Its mobile and fixed crushing/screening plants are technically superior and ahead of their time. They perform very well and that's what you want as a recycling company. They are easy to operate and at the same time have a large production capacity. In addition, their robustness and built-in technical expertise plays a defining role.

  • GM Recycling's portfolio includes the following brands:
