Lubricant specialist Van Meeuwen Lubrication is taking advantage of the upcoming Technische Kontaktdagen (TKD) in Almere to make visitors aware that the quality of modern biodegradable lubricants has greatly improved. And that is particularly in the use of so-called saturated esters as the main basic component of the lubricants.
"Although the demand for bio-lubricants is increasing, we find that there is still some reluctance in the industry," said Taco Mets. Taco is Technical Director at Van Meeuwen, supplier of the Swiss brand PANOLIN's bio-lubricants, among others. "Today's biodegradable lubricants are really totally different in composition and quality than they used to be."
PANOLIN and Van Meeuwen are working together for wider use of biodegradable lubricants in the ground, road and hydraulic engineering, agriculture, green space, marine and offshore sectors. With the special PANOLIN line, Van Meeuwen offers lubricants to make complete machines work green. The advantage is that PANOLIN has been globally active in these markets for over 35 years and there are many OEM approvals attached to the products.
What sets PANOLIN's biodegradable oils and lubricants apart is the fact that PANOLIN uses so-called saturated esters as the main base component of its lubricants. Stefan Huisman, Sales Engineer Bio-Onshore at Van Meeuwen, explains the big advantage of this: "Many bio-lubricants are formulated on the basis of unsaturated esters. This causes the oil to react faster with moisture and oxygen, creating sludge, resulting in a high risk of clogging and corrosion."
PANOLIN lubricants, however, consist of fully saturated esters combined with a unique additive package, making this issue a thing of the past. "It goes without saying that this is better for your machines and their service life. Moreover, the new generation of lubricants are of such high quality that they also last longer than standard conventional mineral oils, thus saving you costs in the long run on your change interval. And PANOLIN lubricants are also PFAS-free. The current generation of bio-lubricants in our package therefore offers guaranteed value for money."
Regulations are becoming increasingly stringent. This is precisely why it is wise to seek advice on which bio-lubricants for which machine or for which project offer the best quality, the longest life and the lowest cost. For both existing and new machines and equipment. Stefan: "Naturally, this includes advice on switching and we can help calculate the CO2 savings. What is also interesting: the EU Ecolabel. This label is also going to play an increasing role in the environmental field."
