Driving a scaffolding trailer: tips for safe transportation of scaffolding

Scaffold transportation can be unsafe if you don't know how to do it
Construction companies, handymen or self-employed construction workers who own one or more scaffolds use them for a variety of jobs. These may include painting, stucco work or facade renovation. Assembling the scaffolding prior to a job is one thing; transporting scaffolding materials with a scaffolding trailer. Transporting scaffolding can be risky if the loading and driving of the scaffolding trailer is done incorrectly. How to safely transport scaffolding with a special trailer, read below!

Small scaffolding can sometimes be transported by van
When you work with and small size scaffolding, it may not need to be transported with a scaffolding trailer, but simply with a van. However, this is usually inconvenient because work vans are often already full of other items - such as tools and building materials. In practice, therefore, the use of a trailer for scaffolding transport is often necessary.

Various types of scaffolding trucks
Various types of scaffolding trailers are available for scaffolding transportation. If you have a small size up to about 14 meters, then a small-sized trailer will do. But there are also special scaffolding trailers for larger scaffolds. If you want a really luxurious and safe trailer for your scaffolding transport, then you can choose a lockable scaffolding trailer. The advantage of this trailer is that it allows you to transport scaffolding up to a working height of 12 meters. Furthermore, these trailers protect the material from the weather and help prevent theft. Ideal trailers for transporting scaffolding.

Considerations for safe transportation of scaffolding
Anyone who (regularly) transports scaffolding by road must keep a few things in mind. For safety, cars with a trailer are subject to a maximum speed limit of 90 kilometers per hour. A second important consideration is the fact that you must securely fasten the materials on the trailer with lashing straps, so that the loose tubes and parts cannot move. Be especially careful when cornering with scaffolding materials on your trailer. If you take the curve too hard, you may have to deal with shifting material. Finally: in principle you can just drive with driving license B on the road to transport scaffolding. If the weight exceeds 3500 kilograms, you need a special license. But fortunately the average scaffold is not that heavy!
