Edging ahead with green lubricants and fuels

Leading the way with green lubricants and fuels

Here lies the strength of GVG Oil Trading, a company of the third generation of the Van Gelder family in oil. The family business is big in niches, has an awful lot of knowledge in house and is constantly developing green alternatives to conventional fuels and lubricants. Particularly in the infrastructure sector, serious steps can already be taken to substantially reduce emissions of CO2, nitrogen and particulate matter, among other things.

"As a family business, we play just a different role in the world of oil trading," begins Ernst van Gelder. The three brothers are true technologists and have developed a number of unique products under the banner of GVG Oil Trade. "We see what is in demand in the market and respond to it with our own R&D department. Our focus is on developing green alternatives to conventional fuels and lubricants. There is still a world to be won here. Especially in the infrastructure sector."

Since 1990, GVG Oliehandel has been an independent Benelux importer of Aspen, producer of clean alkylate gasoline for small gasoline engines. "This fuel reduces benzene emissions by 99% compared to pump gasoline and contributes significantly to nitrogen reduction," says Van Gelder. "In addition, we operate internationally with our own brands. Under the Agealube brand name, we develop fuels and lubricants that minimize human and environmental impact without compromising on technical qualities. Agealube Eco Diesel is a great example of this, a sustainable fuel that is also better for the engine."

Tank sets with Agealube Eco Diesel

In addition to jerry cans, Agealube supplies the Eco Diesel as a plug-and-play product in tank sets from two 200-liter drums to even two 1,000-liter IBC tanks. "Ideal for 'self-service' on a large infrastructure project, as well as on site by the infrastructure contractors themselves," says Van Gelder. "Agealube Eco Diesel is a fossil-free product, without aromatics, made entirely from renewable resources. It results in a reduction in CO2 emissions by 89%, as well as a significant reduction in particulate matter and nitrogen. And so with the Tankset we also offer a logistical solution. Namely, the ability to refuel this clean fuel at any desired location without any problems. We make sure that everything is 100% well organized, so that you never run out and your work does not come to a standstill."

"We all need to tackle the climate problem together," Van Gelder continued. "Instead of waiting for the final solution, serious steps can be taken now by, for example, changing the oil and/or fuel in a diesel engine. It has an immediate effect. We want to bring that to the attention of more and more, also in the infrastructure sector. Fortunately, more and more companies recognize that they need to become more sustainable. We are therefore regularly approached to look at the possibilities of increasing sustainability. And especially: what can our fuels and lubricants contribute to this in terms of CO2, nitrogen and particulate matter reduction? In many cases this leads to surprising results."
