"Optimas offers us many extras," begins Jan-Willem Slegh (Sales & Export at De Schans) enthusiastically. "The brand is already known for its mechanical paving clamps and laying machines. At Bauma, the new S19 laying machine with the Multi 6M paving clamp was introduced. This machine has been completely redesigned, paying particular attention to the finishing details. Equipped with a 17.9 kW (24 hp) four-cylinder engine, the machine is fully compliant with the European emission standard."
Its hydraulics provide a volume flow of up to 100 l/min. With its own weight of 1,300 kg, the S19 can lift a total of 700 kg. With a height of only 2,000 mm and a width of 1,350 mm, the machine can be easily transported and used in underground parking garages.
To make the laying machine more accessible to the all-round paver or mini-shovel user, the S19 can be equipped with a joystick instead of foot pedal operation. "We supply a simple control for this by means of an external valve or the deluxe variant that is operated proportionally In addition to these modifications, we see a future in joystick steering, eliminating the steering column and allowing the operator to work comfortably," Slegh says. "For those who want to make a smaller investment, a less luxuriously equipped T22 laying machine is also available, a basic machine for smaller applications or occasional use."
De Schans is fully committed to the electric market with Knikmops, and Optimas' S19 already runs electrically in line with this. Slegh: "Optimas is equipping the S19 with a 25 kW electric motor. In combination with a Lithium Ion battery, this means that the machine can run for 4 hours. By means of a quick-change system, the battery can be quickly exchanged for a full one in order to complete the working day without any loss of time." It is also possible to recharge in between using a quick charger. The battery is then full in 1.5 hours.
Optimas' updated Multi 6M paving clamp provides more power when pressing and moving stones. The clamp is infinitely variable and can be adjusted without special tools to all stone sizes, layers and thicknesses with a few hand movements. New is the 3K control, which consists of an intelligent combination of a rotator and a mechanical changeover valve. The clamp performs all three required functions separately with only two additional functions: rotate clamp, engage or move stones, and open and close gripper.
"The advantages are numerous," knows Jan-Willem Slegh. "For example, stone layers from 0.6 to 1.5 m² can be laid without problems. Viscous bond with or without half clinkers can be shifted and uneven stone layers can be clamped." Using spacers, parcels can be slid into bond. The six-arm clamping technology requires only 60 bar hydraulic pressure. Optionally, each of the six grab arms can be equipped with an electric motor and sensor, allowing the arms to automatically adjust to the grab size.
In addition to the laying machines, Optimas has a wide range of vacuum equipment. De Schans has included the Vacu Pallet Mobil and Finliner within its rental range to see its applicability in the Netherlands. Built on a Hinowa tracked chassis, the Vacu Pallet Mobil weighs 1,150 kg and can move up to 1.6 tons with pallet forks. The vacuum boom swivels 360° and can lift 140 kg at a working radius of 3 meters. Slegh: "This means that 6 meters of sidewalk can be set in one transport pass. Different suction cups are available that can be replaced through a quick-change system."
Optimas' Finliner is an attachment for wheel loaders, telehandlers, tractors, etc. to very easily put away concrete, sand, gravel or other material in precisely metered quantities over a conveyor belt. "The low-cost alternative to swing loaders or side unloaders." The Finliner is available in two sizes: 1 and 1.4 m³. The smallest bucket can be mounted to a Knikmops 250.
