New trailer ideal for transporting lawn mowers, wheel loaders and tractors

The demand for semi-trailers for transporting smaller machines is increasing. Also in civil engineering. Because small machines are also needed there: a mower for plant maintenance and maintenance along roads or bicycle paths, a mini-excavator for cable work along a dike, or a boom lift to install lighting.

For almost forty years Veldhuizen B.V. has specialized in the sale, rental and maintenance of trailers, semi-trailers and drive-up trucks. In addition to its fleet which is suitable for heavy transport work, the company has started a series production of small trucks and trailers.

"With a sixty percent market share, we are the market leader in this segment." Speaking is Pieter Veldhuizen. "Basically, we are an inventive manufacturer, originally started in the agricultural mechanization and construction world. Then we started producing heavy trailers and for the past ten years also sand dumper trucks and concrete mixers.  In total, we have already manufactured over 1,000 trailers and 8,500 semi-trailers. Now we are adding the manufacture of 500 BE tractors every year. "

Low drive-up Clixtar

"With the introduction of the Mercedes MB Sprinter with the lowered chassis, the opportunity arose to develop a low Clixtar." As the base vehicle, Veldhuizen chose a Sprinter tractor 314 with a chassis height of 56 cm. A lowered fifth wheel frame was designed on this chassis with a fifth wheel height of only 70 cm. The 5 ton semi-trailer on this low vehicle is built with 1,500 kg fifth wheel pressure and an air-braked 3,500 kg axle. Mounted on this axle are the lowered tires 205/65 R 17.5" making the loading floor only 80 cm high. Veldhuizen: "The new Sprinter in combination with our design techniques results in an ideal semi-trailer for transporting smaller machines. The semi-trailer is air-sprung and sloping so that the ramp height is only 52 cm. With a ramp angle starting at 12°, this makes the semi-trailer very suitable for transporting lawnmowers, wheel loaders and tractors. An additional advantage is that the tractor-trailer combination is designed for a payload of 3,700 kg and can be driven with a B+E driving license. Unique in our rental fleet!"

The Drive-up Clixtar with open drive-up chutes made of Domex steel. The loading floor is made of 25 mm hardwood and equipped with 28 lashing pots that are TUV approved at 3 tons.

Introduction to the RDD

The Oprij Clixtar combination was introduced at the Cleaning Demo Days in Soesterberg on June 5 and 6. Veldhuizen concludes, "To acquaint customers with this transport option, five Oprij Clixtar combinations are available from our rental department."
