More than a versatile viewing app

SmallToGo recently launched a viewing application, the STGViewer. This application is multi-functional for housing associations and heat networks, among others. It can also be deployed company-wide across multiple departments.

SmallToGo, derived from Smallworld To Google, specializes in developing geographic information systems based on TatukGIS products. TatukGIS can be used for a very broad market. From housing corporations to real estate agents and from small utility companies to the agricultural sector. It is therefore in these sectors that SmallToGo's main customers are located. "Our goal is to make all our applications versatile," says director Danny van Hooren.  "We set up data in such a way that it can be combined with other GIS packages. This gives the customer flexibility. Moreover, we offer a complete suite in one environment for viewing, web and mutation. As a customer, you no longer have to deal with different vendors and all kinds of, mostly expensive, licenses."

Multi-purpose STG Viewer

The latest development within the company is the STG Viewer. A viewing application that allows you to access, view, search and analyze data. Everything but modify the data. "The STG Viewer has several useful features. Within an organization, for example, it can be linked to document management systems. A heating company can use it as a network monitoring function to detect a leak in a water pipe. With the STG Viewer, you can locate disconnections so that you can inform households in a particular area in advance of a disconnection. The Malfunctions and Maintenance department can use it to gain insight into where there are many malfunctions or, at the request of a manufacturer, can perform proactive maintenance to prevent problems. But you can also use the STG Viewer to determine the best location for waste containers, for example.  And a housing association can map its property and thus look specifically at areas for renovation. In short, the deployment is very versatile." By deploying open data, SmallToGo offers clients an almost turnkey solution. Thereby, there are certain open data sources that are smartly enriched with data by them.

One application for multiple departments

An important advantage of the STG Viewer, according to Van Hooren, is that it is multidisciplinary. Multiple departments can use the exact same application. "The applications use the same architecture between them. We build a Web solution so the customer can use exactly the same data company-wide. The customer can also set up their own environment where each department has its own setup. That way you also keep management and maintenance under control.  Moreover, the viewing application is great to combine with a muting application."
