Dutch family business Staad introduces first 100% electric excavator at Bauma 2025

Staad, the Dutch family company founded in 1930 and based in Veghel in Brabant, is presenting the STAAD 17W at Bauma trade fair: the first fully in-house developed, 100% electric excavator. This state-of-the art electric excavator was developed after customer input from more than 135 electric excavator users in Europe. With the launch of the STAAD 17W, the company strengthens its leading role as a manufacturer of electric excavators in Europe. The machine will be available from mid-2026.

• 24/7 Work Capacity: Thanks to the patented battery changing system, 24/7 deployment is possible: replaceable Powerbox 300 batteries can be changed in less than five minutes.
• Powerbox 300 Battery: The completely newly developed interchangeable Powerbox 300 battery can also function as an independent and self-contained power source completely separate from the machine. The battery thus offers a flexible solution for various on-site energy needs.
• Charging anywhere: Unlike all existing excavators, the machine can be charged at an "ordinary" 400-volt charging point. This can be done at any industrial site, for example.
• Compact and Agile: The design of the machine has been optimized for working in tight environments, with a compact upper carriage and innovative boom structure. This has reduced the overall swing radius of the upper carriage by 74 centimeters compared to the regular 14-ton diesel equivalent.
• Smart Security: The STAAD 17W is equipped with an AI-powered obstacle avoidance system and 360-degree camera system, increasing safety and efficiency. Haptic feedback from the joysticks alerts the user to unsafe situations.

Wheel steering, travel direction and all additional hydraulic functions can be controlled simultaneously from the heated joysticks using 6 rollers and 12 switches without having to let go of your hands to switch to other switches. The functionality of the rollers and switches are adjustable per user for optimal user comfort.
