KWS sponsors La Vuelta Holanda with deployment of infrastructure expertise

Market leader in road construction KWS is one of the infrastructure partners of La Vuelta Holanda, the Dutch start of the Spanish cycling race La Vuelta. KWS is responsible for the infrastructure work involved in preparing the course in Breda and on all provincial roads over which the peloton will race. La Vuelta Holanda will take place on August 14, 15 and 16 in Utrecht, 's-Hertogenbosch and Breda. After the Tour de France and Giro d'Italia, Utrecht is now also hosting the start of the cycling race for La Vuelta.

On the provincial roads and in Breda, KWS is making the necessary adjustments to allow the peloton to race safely, such as the removal of escape ramps and narrowing. During the stages in August, KWS will also mark the necessary turns and traffic circles with barriers to guide cyclists through the critical points. Afterwards, in consultation with the municipalities and provinces involved, KWS will return the course to its original state if necessary. Exactly which adjustments are needed is currently being mapped out. The work will take place just before the start of La Vuelta Holanda.

"With the local presence in the vicinity of the three stages and the expertise of KWS, they are the obvious infrastructure partner for La Vuelta Holanda," said Martijn van Hulsteijn, project director of la Vuelta Holanda.

"KWS is a proud sponsor of this major cycling tour. Having also been involved in the start of the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia in Utrecht completes the list. Among KWS'ers are many cycling fanatics who like to ride a lap in their spare time. This partnership therefore fits our company perfectly," says Theo te Beest, director of the Utrecht branch of KWS.

La Vuelta Holanda

The 75th edition of the Vuelta will start in the Netherlands this year. Only three times before has this Spanish cycling tour started outside of Spain. On Aug. 14, 15 and 16, the cycling tour will pass through Utrecht, 's-Hertogenbosch and Breda in three stages. In December 2019, the entire course was announced, including the routes of the three stages in the Netherlands.
