Komatsu introduces pioneering K100 boom change system

Innovative Komatsu K100 boom change system on PC490HRD-11 ensures higher productivity on demolition projects.

Komatsu has designed a groundbreaking quick-change system for the PC490HRD-11 demolition crane that is revolutionizing demolition projects. The new K100 system makes it possible to change jibs within 100 (!) seconds, without the operator having to leave the cab to do so. Eckert Industrieabbruch GmbH has the world premiere with the first the Komatsu PC490HRD-11 with the K100 boom change system. For demolition work, machines must have sufficient (hydraulic) power to be able to work with large attachments and thus run production. Equally, they must be flexible for various types of demolition work and require different versions of demolition machines.

That is exactly what Komatsu meets with the PC390HRD-11 and PC490HRD-11. Models are also available in special straight Straight Boom versions. It is not for nothing that many demolition contractors choose Komatsu demolition machines and they are sold frequently in Europe. The overall picture is right and there are various configurations possible for every type of demolition work. Also important is the favorable fuel consumption and the fact that Komatsu demolition machines have an EU Stage V engine, which contributes to sustainable demolition projects. In the Benelux, importer BIA has sold many Komatsu High Reach Demolition machines in recent years and has been very successful with demolition contractors.

Six configurations

Komatsu's PC490HRD-11 is versatile for any type of demolition job. High, deep, far or heavy. As many as six different configurations are possible. Precisely thanks to the K100 boom change system, it is even easier to always choose the right boom configuration. It is now: Select, Connect and Go. This solution enables even faster and more efficient work. The system can even save the use of an additional machine. With short boom, 5-ton demolition equipment can be worked up to 13.5 meters in height. In combination with 4-meter long extension, the maximum demolition height is 17.3 meters. With the 3-piece boom, up to 28 meters of height can be demolished with a 2,500 kg tool. It is also possible to use the 4-meter extension in combination with the 3-piece demolition boom: extended high reach. Then the maximum demolition height becomes 32 meters with attachments up to 2 tons.

The hydraulically expandable undercarriage makes the machine easy to transport and offers excellent stability. The Komatsu Working Range Indication System continuously measures the position of the main boom plus stick and shows it on the display. This ensures safe demolition. And sustainable demolition, because under the hood is Komatsu's own SAA6D125E-7 diesel engine, which meets the strictest exhaust standards. The additional option of opting for the innovative Komatsu K100 quick-change system, with which the change of boom takes place automatically within 100 seconds, also guarantees even higher productivity on demolition projects.
