Kobelco hybrid excavator for Van Eijk

Loon- en verhuurbedrijf Van Eijk V.O.F. from Montfoort has had a Kobelco SK210HLC-10 Hybrid crawler excavator in use for several months now. After 30,000 hours on KATO crawler cranes, it took some getting used to, but now operator Ed van Eijk is extremely pleased with the hybrid Kobelco.

Ed van Eijk says the following about the new Kobelco SK210HLC-10; "I could read and write with the KATOs I had before. I was completely wedded to those machines so the switch took some getting used to. But I must honestly say that it is more crane in every way. Finishing is easier, capacity is top notch and fuel consumption is really significantly less. Also the visibility from the cab is very good."

In addition, Ed van Eijk praises the commitment and service of the Kemp Group. "Anyone can sell a crane but, of course, it's all about service."

A unique feature of this hybrid Kobelco is that the energy for propulsion is not generated solely by the swing engine. The 25kW generator motor charges the battery pack continuously. Due to the flywheel effect, this takes very little energy and the battery is charged even when idling. The swing motor of the hybrid is fully electric and with every digging cycle the electric motor supports the conventional fuel engine. This allows the same work to be done at a lower speed. The latest generation is 16.7% more fuel-efficient than a conventional SK210LC-9 and consumes up to 12% less in Eco mode.

Kemp's professionals built the machine completely to Van Eijk's wishes and requirements. These include: hydraulic tilt quick change, central lubrication, hose breakage protection on the bucket cylinder, cross operation, overpressure preparation and extra working lights.
