It can be done with plastic

For almost thirty years, Van Kaam BV has been a great advocate of carrying out underground infrastructures in plastic. At the RioleringsVakdagen the family business presents itself as a stockholding specialist of everything needed for the construction of underground pipe work, spiral ducts and fittings. Recognizing problems and offering customized solutions (at lightning speed) is what makes Van Kaam unique to this day.

Van Kaam supplies a wide range of plastic materials. "The range varies from piping for gas, water, sewer, nitrogen, CO2 and recently also for CHP plants. And all in HDPE and a little PP. Absolutely no PVC, we are allergic to that," laughs director Bastiaan van Kaam. "We also supply a large number of cast iron fittings such as fittings, valves and connecting materials from stock, as well as welding fittings and fittings in diameters ranging from 20 to 1200 mm. The materials can be picked up directly from us or can be delivered by us on site within 24 hours."

Knowledge and advice

In addition to the materials themselves, many relations know how to find Van Kaam for knowledge and advice. "We are strong in recognizing and solving problems, often within 24 hours. If standard products cannot be used, we will develop a custom solution in close consultation with our relations if required. In fact, in addition to our trading company, we also have a manufacturing company, complete with engineering department and production/assembly facilities. For example, we have many years of experience in custom manufacturing HPE manholes and PE inspection manholes for the sewage and drainage market. With our "small pumping station" for the sewage market, we were unique in the market at the time. The concept has since been widely copied by the market. All systems can possibly be installed on site by our certified (mirror) welders."

Special applications

Van Kaam also knows how to come up with a solution for deviating or not immediately obvious products made of HDPE (for example, as a replacement for stainless steel). "Think of filter systems, ice rinks, indoor ski hills, field heating and cabling of any kind. Among other things, we contributed to the development of the plastic capture system Shoreliner, a concept of engineering firm Tauw. The product was developed and realized in-house. The system catches floating debris and microplastics (>5 mm) in the port of Rotterdam to prevent them from ending up in the sea. So we are also the right place for such 'specials'. At the RioleringsVakdagen trade fair we will be happy to discuss the many possibilities in plastic with visitors. Naturally, we will also show a few showpieces at the trade fair, such as our well-known winding tube sump. See you on 16, 17 or 18 March in Gorinchem," Van Kaam concludes.
