Emission-free drive for conventional foundation machines

Several years ago, Fundex Equipment deployed the Fundex Power Switch (FPS) as a standalone unit for emission-free operation of a foundation machine, among others. Recently, it is also possible to replace the complete conventional drive with an emission-free drive line on the back of the machine, including Fundex Battery Pack FBP435. This offers even more possibilities. 

So in the latest configuration, the Fundex Power Switch is powered by its own battery pack on the machine that takes over the entire conventional drive of the foundation machine, says Arjan Roubos of Fundex Equipment. "Up to three battery packs of 435 kWh each can be connected to the FPS on the machine. The only thing left on site is a mains power supply to charge the batteries. A unique concept that we have tested extensively in cooperation with Heijmans and Dens over the past period and we are now offering in a working combination on the market." According to Arjan, plenty of interest has already been shown. "It is a relatively low-threshold way to be able to work completely emission-free, without having to write off an existing conventional machine."

PM motors

The Fundex Power Switch is equipped with so-called permanent magnet motors. "It provides a dynamic start," says John Brakman of Fundex Equipment. "You immediately have full power available. Also provided is a stop/start function to be as efficient as possible with energy consumption." A foundation machine requires high power. "All data from the FPS is visible in MYRIX. Based on historical data, users can make a good estimate of the power needed and thus match the battery pack to the available grid capacity." The FPS and the Fundex Battery Pack is available for Fundex foundation machines with conventional drives. "It is a very interesting intermediate solution for many parties," Arjan emphasizes. "Even if they invest in a conventional machine, they can always later make the switch to emission-free with the same machine. That way we reduce the investment risk considerably."

Fundex Equipment can technically prepare ex-factory a machine with combustion engine to run with the FPS. This applies to both new- and existing machines (retrofit). "We have already built this preparation on quite a number of machines. The FPS in combination with the Fundex Battery Pack is also available as a rental unit. It ensures that our customers with existing equipment can flexibly tender for emission-free projects, even still without having to invest in an emission-free powertrain. It fits with our vision of the future: 'be ready, be flexible'."
