ELM Construction Machinery successful with emission-free ETEC excavators

ALL ZERO EMISSION KNOWLEDGE UNDER ONE ROOF

There is no escaping the fact that in addition to electric cars, more and more electric excavators are making their appearance. The company for anyone who wants to switch to emission-free equipment is ELM Bouwmachines BV. Sales specialist Gerben Brouwer is determined to conquer the electric construction machinery market with ETEC Zero Emission. "Manufacturing machinery is in our blood. With almost 100 years of experience, we are able to build the perfect electric excavators that perform optimally on the construction site of the future."

ELM Bouwmachines B.V. has a complex of over 10,000 square meters, with no less than 6,000 square meters of workshop, two spacious spray booths and a fully equipped construction department where ELM is able to develop and manufacture machines in-house.

Practical Experience

All ETEC machines are designed by people with passion, combined with practical experience. ETEC electric excavators are extensively tested in practice before serial production is started. The wishes of the users combined with the knowledge and almost 100 years of experience within ELM Construction Equipment have ensured that the ETEC models are the best performing electric excavators on the market.

Much attention is paid to the safety of ETEC excavators. For each ETEC model, the voltage that best suits the machine class is chosen. In practice, this means that the compact models up to and including the E36c (3.8-tonne mini-excavator) are equipped with so-called 'low-voltage' batteries and above that, 'high-voltage' batteries (600V) are used. Naturally, all ETEC machines meet the highest safety requirements and are produced according to the applicable standards applicable to electrification of equipment.

Entirely in-house

About 2.5 years ago, ELM Construction Machinery identified an increasing need from customers for electric excavators. Because there was no serious manufacturer of emission-free machines on the market at the time - and, according to Gerben Brouwer, still isn't, barring some conversion companies - the decision was made to develop electric excavators entirely in-house and market them under the brand name ETEC Zero Emission.

Brouwer: "Our mission is therefore to make emission-free excavators the new standard on the construction site of the future. With our wholly in-house produced electric ETEC excavators, we are really making this step possible! No other manufacturer of electric excavators has more expertise in-house and we are proud of that."

"We build everything ourselves," continues Brewer. "From design to implementation, we even write the software that is subject to the electrical machine ourselves. Given that we keep everything in-house, there are therefore also fewer parties involved, allowing us to keep costs down. In addition to competing on quality, this allows us to ensure that the construction site of the future is possible for everyone."

One-stop shopping

What is absolutely important, and which ELM finds that (potential) customers find very pleasing, is the concept of one-stop shopping. "We are responsible for the entire package we offer. In the unlikely event of a breakdown, we don't have to lean on an external company. It is up to us the task and responsibility to solve which problem adequately and to the customer's satisfaction."

According to Brouwer, this immediately creates a bond of trust between the customer and ELM Bouwmachines BV. "Satisfying and keeping the customer satisfied is the most important thing for us, and therein lies our strength."

All ETEC electric machines are equipped with the so-called LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery. These batteries are undisputedly the best choice for an electric excavator. Independent studies show that LFP batteries contain many advantages, such as no fire hazard: the well-known "thermal run-away" is not possible with an LFP battery. Furthermore, they are resistant to high temperatures, have a life expectancy many times longer and a transparent production process. This means no use of raw materials associated with child labor.

Full working day

Perform for an entire working day in the toughest conditions. That is one of the principles during the design of ETEC excavators. By combining smart design, practical knowledge and good materials, ETEC makes this possible and it is no longer a paper reality. ETEC excavators have been tested in the toughest conditions. Practical tests show that ETEC excavators perform an entire working day in medium to heavy-duty operations. "The user can therefore carefree use the ETEC excavator for at least a day. This is what sets our ETEC excavators apart from other electric models and contributes to the key to success," Brouwer said in conclusion.
