Engcon sorting grapples get an update

- they are matched to the new generation of rotary tilters and excavators

Engcon, the world leader in rotary tilters, will upgrade its stone and sorting grapples to match the new generation of rotary tilters and excavators.

15 years ago, Engcon launched the series of SK rock and grading grabs. Over the years, these have become increasingly common accessories to make excavators even more useful and flexible. Over time, pivot attachments have evolved, new weight classes have been added and excavators have become stronger. For that reason, Engcon is now tailoring grapples to today's requirements by making them stronger and more adaptable for accessories.

"Not only will the new grabs be strengthened and better matched to the new generation of turntables and excavators, we will also better prepare them for suitable accessories," said Johan Johansson, constructor at Engcon Group.

Johan Johansson explains that the gripper arms will be closed, so they can more easily hold small material that would otherwise run out of the grippers. In addition, they will be prepared for the mounting of covering side plates as standard. This will make it very easy to turn the stone and sorting grabs into excavator buckets, according to Johansson.

As before, attachments are bolted down and prepared for EC-Oil, Engcon's automatic oil clutch. All joints are equipped with expander bolts to reduce backlash to a minimum, the cutting steel is bolted on for easy replacement and are prepared for the mounting of digging teeth. The new grapples are available in six different sizes, suitable for excavators from 1.5 to 33 tons.

The SG12 will be the first of the new series of grapples with a grip area of 0.34 m2, making it tailored to excavators in the 6-12 ton class. Production is expected to start in summer 2019, but already at Bauma 2019, Engcon's new stone and sorting grab will be on display.
