Complete player in road security

Obtaining optimal traffic flow during emergencies and road works, placing temporary traffic facilities and pursuing safety for road users and road workers requires specialized knowledge and equipment.

Family business F.C. Nienhuis Wegbeveiliging BV in Heerenveen has the necessary knowledge, specialized employees and the right equipment. The company has been active in road security since 1978 and over the years has developed into a complete player in this field. The company now offers a wide range of services in the field of roadside protection systems and traffic barriers. Here, in addition to the safety of road workers, optimal traffic flow and road safety are paramount.

(Road) works

Director/co-owner Arjan Nienhuis: "Guide rail constructions/catch rails were the main activity in the early years. Meanwhile, our activities range from the installation of roadside safety constructions, the installation, replacement and repair of obstacle guards to the rental of Mobile Lane Signaling.

In addition, we have an emergency service that is on standby 24/7 and gets to work immediately in the event of a problem. We are therefore quickly on site to make temporary information and safety arrangements and restore the calamity to the regular situation. In doing so, we provide, for example, replacement of damaged guardrail, rimob/crashguard, cleaning the road surface and creating safe space to carry out this work using appropriate traffic measures."

Flat organization

Due to the flat organization, we can switch quickly. F.C. Nienhuis tries to unburden its clients, such as the government, larger contractors, construction companies and SMEs, by assisting and solving problems as quickly and accurately as possible. To this end, the road safety company has expert employees and special equipment, such as action and text vehicles, collision absorbers, (RAIN) pre-warning carts, mobi-lights, Mobile Lane Signaling/Information Providers and various emergency vehicles. The company is VCA and ISO9001 certified and also meets the requirements of the Department of Public Works, among others.

Constantly innovating

F.C. Nienhuis closely follows new developments and continues to work on innovation, often together with suppliers. These may be innovations in the areas of production, environment, ergonomics and safety. "For example, we are currently in the process of completing a B-licensed bus with a compressor, aggregate, tools, as well as a drop-off arrow/text unit that can be positioned and charged from the cab of the car. This eliminates the need to get out or in to hitch or unhitch a cart," Nienhuis concludes.
