In conjunction with the new truck, they also purchased a multi-purpose tipper trailer that is equipped with camera systems all around, giving the driver full visibility all around the vehicle. The arrival of the IVECO S-WAY expands the fleet to 18 tractor units.

Transport company the Hondsrug specializes in the transportation of sand, gravel and concrete. They also provide ancillary activities such as transporting cement and dry mortar. The IVECO S-WAY is deployed for client Vos Sand & Gravel BV to transport mainly sand to various locations in the Netherlands. The IVECO S-WAY is cloaked in Vos Zand & Grind's corporate identity, giving it a metallic silver appearance. 

High net payload

Owners Hans and Gerrie Fuhler chose an all-round air-suspension IVECO S-WAY with 480 hp on behalf of Transportbedrijf de Hondsrug, because it allows them to transport about 33 tons per trip and about 45,000 tons of sand and gravel on an annual basis. A major factor in the choice of a new truck was that the S-WAY has a low weight of six tons, leaving Transportbedrijf de Hondsrug with a high net loading capacity with its new 50-ton combination. In addition, the driver has been wildly enthusiastic about the IVECO S-WAY since its introduction, so he has highly recommended it to his superiors.

Luxuriously equipped

Transportbedrijf de Hondsrug's new tractor is equipped ex-factory with an air-suspended front axle with wide 385/55R22.5 tires, a leather steering wheel and two ventilated seats. The presence of a refrigerator with freezer compartment, an additional cooler and a Hi-Connect infotainment system with Apple Carplay, Android Car and TomTom truck navigation, gives the driver all the luxuries on board in his home away from home. On request, Cornelis Bedrijfsauto's in Hoogeveen mounted SKY-EYES stainless steel lamp brackets with Lazer Lights and LED beacons on the roof. In addition, the IVECO dealer also provided a SKY-LIGHT-VISOR stainless steel bracket with LED work lights behind the roof spoiler. The IVECO S-WAY is further fully equipped with LED lighting and a light box incorporating the client's name. To crown the lighting work, at the driver's request, the IVECO logo was fitted with LED lighting.

Communicating trailer

Especially for the arrival of the IVECO S-WAY, Transportbedrijf de Hondsrug also purchased a new tipper trailer that communicates directly with the driver. He can set the tipper in motion at the push of a button via a simple control system in the cab. In addition, from his position behind the wheel, he can read all data about the trailer via an additional on-board computer. The IVECO S-WAY was further equipped by Cornelis Bedrijfsauto's with a hydraulic PTO superstructure with high torque capacity. This allows Transportbedrijf de Hondsrug to work daily under a high pressure of 250 to 350 bar and effortlessly transport a large load of sand or gravel.
