Bobcat rolls out new range of light compaction products

Almost no construction site is complete without a soil and asphalt compactor. That is why Bobcat has launched the new light compactor product line in cooperation with the Ammann Group.

This expansion of Bobcat's product range is designed to meet the requirements for virtually all compaction jobs. The machines' specifications include advanced technologies that enable maximum performance without compromising comfort, safety and ease of use. In total, the Bobcat range of light compactors includes seven different product families and eventually it will 37 models include ranging from 29-kg vibratory rammers to 2.6-ton tandem rollers.

Mike Vought, senior director of product management at Doosan Bobcat EMEA, explained, "The launch of the complete compaction range is part of Bobcat's diversification strategy. Together with various product innovations, this is one of the drivers of achieving our vision - to become the world market leader for compact equipment. To achieve these goals, we have introduced an unprecedented number of new products and technologies even in the difficult year of 2020, and we will continue that strategy in 2021."

The range of Bobcat light compaction machines includes:

  • Vibrating samplers
  • Forward vibrating plates
  • Reversible vibratory plates
  • Hydrostatic vibratory plates
  • Tread rollers
  • Trench rollers
  • Tandem rollers

Light compactors can be used for a wide range of applications, including:

Construction - light compaction equipment increases soil strength and improves soil stability and bearing capacity by removing voids and better interlocking soil particles.

Roadworks - Compacting asphalt and base materials improves their ability to carry heavy traffic and improves their overall durability.

Greenery - Trench rammers and forward vibratory plates are popular for garden and landscape applications because their compact size and light weight make them easy to move.

Vibrating samplers

The Bobcat range of vibratory rammers consists of six models - the R30, R60, R68, R60P, R68P and R70D - from 29 to 89 kg and are designed for small compaction jobs for trenching, drainage and pipelines. Thanks to their ease of transportation, they are also often used for road work and maintenance. They are suitable for compacting mixed soil, sand, gravel material, loam and clay.

All Bobcat vibratory rammers feature a reduced-vibration handle and CAD-calculated weight distribution, ensuring maximum operator safety and comfort. Models R60 and above are equipped with an integrated height adjustment system.

Forward vibrating plates

There are also six different forward vibratory plates suitable for compaction of sand, gravel, skim concrete, bitumen-coated gravel and pavers. These, too, are easy to transport due to their compact size and ideal for compaction in tight areas such as trenches, pipelines, sidewalks and even tight green spaces.

Models FP10.33, FP12.40, FP15.40, FP15.50, FP20.50 and FP20.50D are the smallest products in the Bobcat vibratory plate lineup. They range in weight from 54 to 115 kg. The clever engineering design of the handles protects the operator from unwanted vibrations, while the machine frame allows for a secure grip and easy operation of the machine.

Reversible vibratory plates

Bobcat reversible vibratory plates are suitable for civil engineering work and can be used in road construction. They can easily compact all ground materials, such as sand, gravel, crushed stone, concrete and set pavement. The product line includes 12 models from 109 to 490 kg - the RP22.40, RP22.40D, RP25.40D, RP25.50D, RP30.50, RP30.50D, RP30.60, RP30.60D, RP40.60, RP40.60D, RP49.20D and RP59.20D.

All of Bobcat's reversible vibratory plates operate with a dual-axis system, allowing for direction changes during compaction. Their dual-axis technology also gives double the weight - and thus better compaction force. Hydrostatic controls ensure ease of operation and quick change of compaction direction.

Hydrostatic vibratory plates

Complementing the range of compaction plates are four hydrostatic vibratory plates - the HP50.75, HP55.75, HP60.85 and HP65.85 - weighing between 450 and 582 kg. Hydrostatic vibratory plates are designed for heavier compaction work in civil engineering and road construction.

The hydrostatic vibratory plates can easily compact any ground materials - such as sand, gravel, crushed stone, concrete or setting pavement. The Bobcat series of hydrostatic vibratory plates is based on a fully hydraulic system, eliminating the need for a V-belt. The HP50.75 and HP60.85 operate with a dual excitation system; the HP55.75 and HP65.85 with a unique three-axis excitation system for maximum compaction capacity and excellent climbing ability.

Tread rollers

Walk-behind rollers are versatile machines, suitable for compacting bituminous material as well as light earthwork and other compaction jobs. Bobcat offers the WR65 model in two versions with a choice of Hatz or Yanmar engines, both equipped with dual drums for maximum compaction.

The track rollers are fully hydraulic machines with an integrated water spray system as standard. The Bobcat track rollers are equipped with dual-amplitude settings to switch between soil/gravel and asphalt/asphalt compaction in seconds.

Trench rollers

Trench rollers, as the name implies, are designed primarily for trench compaction. Bobcat offers the 1,340 kg TR75 (articulated) and the 1,305 kg TR85S (skid-steer loader) models. They can be used for a wide range of applications such as pipeline, electrical and other cable installation. These machines can also be used for industrial jobs and at landfill and waste sites. They can be used for soil, sand or gravel compaction. Bobcat trench rollers can be used even for difficult to compact materials such as clay.
