BASF has launched its Global Virtual Design and Construction Resource Center, which provides both digital BIM content and digital construction tools to support product selection, specification and use. The VDC Resource Center brings together construction experts with backgrounds in architecture, engineering and contracting in a global network that can support customers, planners and architects with advice and access to BASF's entire construction chemicals portfolio.
With more than 200 BIM objects and soon more than 400 Revit models, BASF's BIM portfolio is the largest in the construction chemicals industry. It includes 13 segments of the construction industry, such as waterproofing systems, performance flooring, concrete repair or protective coatings, expansion control systems and wall systems.
These digital solutions are available in more than ten languages from BASF's Master Builders Solutions, Watson Bowman Acme and Senergy brands. In the coming years, BASF will continue to increase and expand its offerings in new product segments and industry sectors to provide construction professionals with even more added value.
"We are fully committed to the entire construction industry. As digitization is now having a major impact on the industry, we are investing in our digital offerings to be the partner of choice for our stakeholders. With our new Virtual Design and Construction Resource Center, we can best support construction professionals in adopting digital practices by giving them access to our specifications and user tools through the largest range of BIM objects. The advantage of our digital content is that it represents products and solutions based on our advanced chemistry, giving the industry easy and early access to our innovative and sustainable portfolio," said Ralf Spettmann, Director of Construction Chemicals at BASF.
BASF is the first global construction chemicals supplier to develop an internal standard for digital creation, quality control and maintenance of BIM content. It did so based on best practices from current global standards such as the British Standards Institute (BSI), the BIM Forum, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the American Concrete Institute (ACI), the International Standards Organization (ISO) and other sources. Spettmann added, "After thousands of downloads, customers report satisfaction with the ease of use and reliability of the objects.
They can be confident that the content of our objects is high quality because they were created based on global industry standards and best practices."
Customers, planners and architects can easily access the digital tools anywhere in the world through various libraries and platforms. Key access points include the new global landing page of BASF's Virtual Design and Construction Resource Center,
