Autocontrol in earthworks via Smart Doc

Emphasis was placed on the possibility of self-control during compaction in earthworks. In addition, Smart Doc meets the minimum requirements for Continuous Compaction Control (CCC). Equipped with an intuitive user interface, the application also adds value in learning new operators, as all important compaction parameters are viewed in real time on the smartphone.

With Smart Doc , Hamm breaks new digital ground and offers a comfortable way to document compaction. In short: Smart Doc is self-checking for everyone. "With the application we can pursue two essential objectives: on the one hand, we offer our customers, who are occasionally in charge of earthworks, a tool with which they can very easily establish compaction proofs. On the other hand, with Smart Doc we support inexperienced operators in their daily work. They often do not have the practical experience of their colleagues but know the digital world. The live display on the smartphone visually shows the evolution of compaction on the current passage. Even young operators can thus achieve high-quality and uniform compaction. The experience increases in a fun way ", explains Dr. Axel Mühlhausen, Product Manager Digital Solutions at Hamm AG.

Available for H Series and H Series CompactLine

Smart Doc allows any operator of an H-Series or H-Series CompactLine compactor to prepare a compaction report. The prerequisite is that the single roller compactors are equipped with the Hamm Compaction Meter that many customers use anyway. There is also a Bluetooth® interface. This is available as an option for the corresponding models. H-Series CompactLine rollers must also be equipped with a speedometer and a frequency display for vibration.

Once the cell phone is connected via the application via Bluetooth® to the CAN bus of the compactor, the current compaction parameters (speed, frequency, amplitude and compaction value) are sent to the application. Bluetooth® Low Energy-Standard guarantees extremely energy-efficient data transmission. Should the cell phone battery nevertheless run out, it can be charged via the 12 V socket or the optional USB port in the driver's seat.

Real-time documentation

Hamm's Smart Doc app shows the progress of compacting each passage in real time. It is a great learning aid for inexperienced operators.

Economical alternative to complex CCC systems in earthworks

As a result, the application provides a compaction report in PDF format. This presents the essential project and batch data, the technical data of the compactor (weight, roller width and static linear load), the various compaction parameters and the number of passes per compaction belt. The report further includes a graph illustrating where and at what intensity compaction has already taken place. Smart Doc records the data as soon as compaction occurs with vibration or oscillation. To do this, an accelerometer attached to the cylinder calculates the load capacity of the soil during dynamic compaction. The measurement quantity used for compaction is the HMV (= Hamm Measurement Value), a measure of the effective soil capacity during compaction. Real-time visualization of compaction data and the ability to generate and present a compaction report at any time enables Smart Doc to meet the basic requirements of a CCC system. In short, with Smart Doc, Hamm offers an economical alternative to achieve high-quality and safe compaction with a basic CCC required for earth-moving jobs.

Easy to order

The app is as user-friendly as the Hamm single roller itself. After entering project data, recording can start and stop automatically when vibration or oscillation is switched on or off. In addition, each passage and each new track can be documented separately and saved automatically. At the end of the task, a press of a button activates data export. During compaction with vibration or oscillation, the driver can monitor the current status live on his smartphone. This display is ideal for training new personnel because Smart Doc allows inexperienced operators to compare their perception with the actual compaction result.

Free

The app is free and can be installed from the Google Play Store on all Android smartphones and tablets from 6.0 onward. The app is available in German, English, Spanish and French.
