With a market share of nearly 37% in the 12-ton+ segment, DAF is the undisputed market leader among non-Asian truck brands on the island. That success is expected to grow further in Taiwan thanks to the recent introduction of the new range of Euro 6 trucks.
Since 2005, DAF Trucks has been shipping parts for the popular LF and CF series from its Eindhoven and Leyland plants to Taiwan on a weekly basis. There, DAF's partner Formosa Plastics Group currently assembles five to six DAF trucks a day on a recently fully modernized production line. All these vehicles are powered by the reliable and efficient Euro 6 PACCAR engines.
"Each DAF truck assembled in Taiwan has the same high quality as the trucks coming off the production lines in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom," said Jan van Keulen, director of Sales Operations and responsible for international markets. "The 10,000th Taiwanese DAF truck is a CF 480 tractor unit that will be used to transport gravel and concrete throughout Taiwan."
Based on nearly 15 years of positive experience with the DAF brand, Zhi-Yong Qiu, CEO of Yong Yuan Transport Corporation, ordered the 10,000th DAF truck built in Taiwan: "Our mixed fleet consists of about 300 vehicles. Several years ago, I decided that every new vehicle should be a DAF. Simply because these trucks are unmatched in terms of fuel economy, reliability and safety. In addition, the local DAF dealer network and its repair and maintenance support is great."
"Indeed, DAF sets the industry standard with its outstanding reliability, low cost per mile and unprecedented driver comfort," explained Seiko Chen, Chairman of Formosa Plastics Transportation Corporation and Senior Vice President of Formosa Plastics Group. "And now, with the introduction of DAF's new Euro 6 trucks, we are raising the bar even higher. In addition, we offer high-quality service and our customers rely on excellent parts delivery through a close-knit network of official DAF dealers and service points throughout the country."
"We are truly proud of our cooperation with the Formosa Plastics Group," said Richard Zink, Director of Marketing & Sales and member of the Board of Directors of DAF Trucks. "Working closely together, we build fantastic trucks that are highly valued by the market for their performance and build quality. This is a huge compliment to the dedication and professionalism with which the Formosa Plastics Group team assembles the high-quality LF and CF series."
