Strong in extraordinary (infra) transportation

With more than 140 years of experience, Purmerend-based Prins Transport is the logistical extension of many an infrastructure contractor. Transporting sheet piles, driving plates, draglines, pile drivers, cranes, containers, construction huts, etc. is a daily business for this family business. A large number of infrastructure contractors gratefully make use of the transport company's services and can count on 24/7 support.

Prins Transport and Purmerend have been inextricably linked for six generations. What once began with a horse and cart has grown into a company that provides transportation to all corners of Europe. And for 140 years, there was always a Prins in charge. From father to son. Johan and sister Nicolien form the sixth generation of the family business, but father Cor, with more than 45 years of experience, is still active in the company that is strong in extraordinary transport.

Unique fleet of vehicles

The Euro 6 truck fleet is just as special as the assignments Prins receives. Low loaders, extendable trailers, loading cranes with jib and remote-controlled trucks. "Each combination has its own driver," says Johan. "The driver and his combination form a special duo that can handle any (exceptional) job. We are involved in almost all major infrastructure projects in our country. For example, we are assisting construction combination Levvel on the Afsluitdijk, we are active for Heijmans on the Piet Hein tunnel and on the project Completion of the dual carriageway system at Schiphol Airport, and we are assisting Dura Vermeer on TenneT's project 'Funding adjustments including accessibility 380 kV high-voltage route Diemen-Lelystad'." The latter rightfully constitutes an elongated project of 52 kilometers, requiring a gigantic amount of driving plates: initially 392,500 m2 is assumed. That's where Prins Transport's expertise comes into play as well. Johan continues: "Among other things, we take care of the complete logistics of Woud BV, one of the players in the rental of road plates and dragline bulkheads in the Netherlands. With our remote-controlled trucks with truck-mounted crane, we can lay out the road plates and/or dragline bulkheads quickly and efficiently in one move. The driver can also operate the truck from the crane. In this we are fairly unique in the Netherlands."

In many cases, Prins Transport is the logistics extension for infrastructure contractors. "We are called in for all kinds of logistics tasks, whether or not in the evenings, nights or weekends. Thanks to our years of knowledge and experience and especially our very extensive expertise in construction and infra, we often manage to achieve logistical optimizations. We are in possession of all the necessary permits or know our way around municipalities, provinces and the State to apply for them. The fact that we have been active in construction and infrastructure for so long means that some of our equipment is also adapted to it. For example, we have a bucket truck with a heavy truck-mounted crane in order to be completely self-sufficient up to certain weights and to save on a telescopic crane."
