For foundation work, quick delivery of steel pipes can be important. Therefore, it is nice if the supplier has large stocks of pipes and can perform welding work in-house.
Moerdijk-based Solines is one such supplier. The international wholesaler supplies new, down graded steel tubes, profile tubes, and surplus lots. The company's strength lies mainly in its huge stock of round tubes, square tubes, and profiles totaling some 40,000 tons. All welded steel pipes and profiles or construction tubes, with diameters from 10 mm to 2,500 mm. Part of the stock consists of tubular piles used in all possible foundation techniques, even in alternative diameters. Think of piling pipes, drill pipes with and without grout injection and vibro pipes. The stocks are spread over two locations: Moerdijk and Dortmund.
Certified method of operation
In foundation work, the piles are cut to size by Solines, drummed and then fitted with welded base plates. They are then delivered directly to the site by crane. Drill pipes also often require welding work to be carried out first. Solines Welding & Construction performs most of this on its own premises and has three welding lines and one OP welding robot for this purpose. It also cooperates with other reputable welding companies. Because welding work must be done meticulously and safely, Solines is certified according to NEN-EN-ISO 3834, an internationally recognized quality assurance system for welding work. This standard describes all welding activities. In addition, ISO 3834 is a quality standard that covers the entire organization with regard to welding.
Screw injection piles (SIP) at Solines always in stock in the four calibrated diameters 88.9 mm, 114.3 mm, 139.7 mm and 168.3 mm.
Supplied complete on the job
Everything Solines does is centered around unburdening customers. The company recently supplied 93 piles in the creation of a new inlet for a drinking water reservoir.
The piles (diameter 406.4 mm in lengths from 8 to 18 meters) serve as foundations for the underwater floor with the intake pump station on top. On all piles, 11 rings had to be welded. During the construction phase, the piles are mainly subjected to tensile loads; the rings then ensure better adhesion with the underwater concrete. The piles were also fitted with sealing plates, drilling plates and spray lances. In addition, drilling points were welded on. Solines delivered the piles completely welded to the job site. A clear example of the service that Solines offers the customer.

SIP tubes
In the context of urbanization, foundation piles today must be nuisance-reducing, often under limited working height and vibration-free. This is why SIP pipes/screw injection piles are increasingly being used. Solines is a major stockholder of these piles, which means that delivery times are very short. The piles are available in four standard sizes: with diameters of 88.9 mm, 114.3 mm, 139.7 mm and 168.3 mm with a standard length of 1.06 meters. Different diameters and lengths are now also possible thanks to the good relationship with the manufacturer.
Galvanize
Solines pipes are not only used in foundation engineering. They are also used in hydraulic works, horizontal (compression) drilling and other disciplines within earthworks, civil engineering and hydraulic engineering. Like the 21 piles recently delivered to a marina for pleasure craft. They have a diameter of 406.4 mm and lengths of 15 to 18 meters, of which 7.5 meters had to be hot-dip galvanized. The galvanized part was welded to the raw pipe and now protrudes above the water. The floating jetties could be attached to it. The demand for galvanization and paint coating systems for piles that will be placed in the water is growing. Solines is happy to take on this work as well.
