VWB The Fieldwork Bureau is the holding company. This includes VWB Soil and VWB Geogroup. "We collect data from above and below ground level," explains Guido Hartkamp, director of VWB Het Veldwerkbureau B.V. "The VWB Geogroep stands for everything in the field of surveying, measuring and hydrography. We do this with the latest techniques, in the open field, on the water, in industry and in construction."
VWB Bodem stands for everything in the field of soil research: environmental, geotechnical, soil mechanical and archaeological from 0.5 m-mv to more than 100 m-mv. It supervises remediation operations and supports the client as much as possible with data collection in the field. This includes data below ground level and below the water bottom. The head office of VWB The Fieldwork Bureau is located in Lieren in Gelderland. It also operates from several branches throughout the Netherlands.
VWB's clients include the larger engineering and consulting firms, the government and contractors. But the middle and small segments also regularly call on her. "Many companies see us as the extension of their own club," Hartkamp explains. "So we are not their competitor, but rather their partner. They do what they can do themselves and hire us for the remaining part. Because of this, we have many regular, trusted clients. They know our way of working."
Now it is precisely this way of working that makes VWB special. They acquire as much data as possible with minimal inconvenience by working in combination. On a project where archaeological, geotechnical, environmental, NGE (unexploded ordnance) and geodetic data must be acquired, it does this in one shift. "A great advantage for the environment," Hartkamp knows from experience. "The work site then only has to be closed off once, which saves inconvenience and costs." But the clearly defined range of services also gives it a special position in the market. "We only deal with data acquisition. When we start developing it into a recommendation, we will be in a competitive position with respect to our clients. Now we are interesting to a broad clientele. Besides, our people just like to be outside."
To acquire the data, VWB uses its own equipment. With 3D scanners, drones, machine drilling rigs and son-
deerunits it can complete any job quickly and adequately. This also allows her clients to get on with their work quickly.
Working outdoors and respecting the environment often go hand in hand. This is no different at VWB. The company ranks high on the CO2 performance ladder, operates energy-neutral and leads the way with alternative utility products. "Together with a supplier we are in the process of marketing a biodegradable monitoring well. We are quite proud of that. We also like to give people with a distance to the labor market a chance within the company."
