Back in 1933, Gorman Rupp developed its first self-priming centrifugal pump and has since become one of the world's leading manufacturers of pumps for industry, governments and GWW.
Gorman Rupp employs people with a heart for pumping. "Everyone in our organization is important and part of the big picture. We don't say 'We are the Pump People' for nothing. We are Gorman Rupp!", says Jan Heuvel, business unit manager for the Netherlands. "We sell and rent a wide range of pumps and also provide the desired service in the field of maintenance and repairs. The enormous growth is reason for the move to Waardenburg. As the European distribution center for Gorman Rupp, we have not only twice as much space there but also many facilities such as a training center."
Heuvel notes that market demand has shifted slightly from investing in new equipment to rental. "With our huge fleet of at least 400 pumps, that's no problem at all. Also, contractors no longer buy only on price or quality, but also look at how 'green' the equipment is." A nice development, according to Heuvel, to which Gorman Rupp responds well. "The in-house developed and built pump systems meet the latest Stage-V standards. We research the market and closely follow the developments of engineering firms and we build on that."

Gorman Rupp is always thinking about the future and wants to modernize further. "The past consists of facts and experiences, on which improvements for the future are based. We have invested considerably in our own machinery to produce our pumps as well and safely as possible. And customer-specific. We are developing affordable alternatives for equipment that has to perform on inner-city projects (i.e. quieter) and with lower CO2 emissions (i.e. greener). We have to wait and see which way we go; will it be electric, hydrogen or whatever form of energy. By looking further and making adjustments, there is always a way to make a difference with our pumps," Heuvel says confidently. "That's how we deal with challenges and with customers."
"Next year, additional attention will be paid to sewer technology within the GWW," Heuvel continues. "Where now mainly submersible pumps are used, we have developed an above-ground sewage pumping station -fitted with our wet self-priming centrifugal pumps. Because it is above ground, it is safer from a health and safety point of view, more environmentally interesting, as well as more hygienic and comfortable. Within no time you have a sewage pumping station with the complete prefabricated cabinet. Ideal for sewer pumping station renovations but also new to install." Heuvel definitely sees opportunities for the Dutch market. He concludes the conversation with his own philosophy: "If it doesn't go the way it should, then so be it. And that's what Gorman Rupp stands for."
