Separation, filtration and reinforcement in one product

Creating a stable substrate with high tensile strength geotextiles, on low load-bearing ground. That is the world in which TenCate Geosynthetics is at home. Its own weaving mill in Hengelo produces geotextiles for various applications. The most recent innovation is TenCate Geolon HMi-5, an all-in-one solution for subsoil stabilization and foundation reinforcement. 

"TenCate Geolon HMi-5 is composed of polypropylene yarns with the highest possible stiffness modulus," says Tom Schothuis of TenCate Geosynthetics. "It is a further development on the Geolon PP range, but based on a new weaving technique and a new type of high modulus yarn. This leads to a high functional tensile strength at an elongation of 2 to 5%. In other words, minimal deformation with maximum tensile strength. The product is equally strong in both directions. Applying Geolon HMi-5 provides significant savings in foundation thickness. Instead of a mixed granulate or sand bed of, say, 50 cm thickness, a thickness of, say, 30 cm is sufficient by applying Geolon HMi-5. It is therefore also a sustainable solution; less material needs to be supplied. In addition, the product also has good filtering properties and water permeability, which is very important for a foundation reinforcement."

TenCate Geolon^® HMi-5 is easily identified on the project by the color pattern all over the fabric and the woven-in product name on the side. "Particularly in the construction of wind turbine and high-voltage parks and as stabilization under roads, it is a very suitable product and a sustainable choice. As TenCate Geosynthetics, we are fully responsible for the engineering," Schothuis concludes.
