We Are The Pump People

Back in 1933, Gorman-Rupp developed its first self-priming centrifugal pump. A pump that -even under extreme conditions- combined reliability and performance. Since then, the company has become one of the world's leading manufacturers of pumps for industry, governments and GWW.

"Thanks to our years of experience, enormous expertise within the team and our extensive product range, we do not shy away from any challenge," says Chris van der Gaag, director at Gorman-Rupp Europe. The company sells or rents a wide range of pumps and also provides the required service in terms of maintenance and repairs.

Much or dirty

"A customer once told me, 'When it comes to lots or dirt, Gorman-Rupp is the place to be.' Absolutely true," agrees Van der Gaag. "We prefer to develop pumps for applications where things get difficult. Especially in terms of volumes or fouling. That's where our pumps excel. The self-priming dirty water pumps can quickly pump large volumes of water, from 50 to a few thousand cubic meters/hour. In addition, the pumps are very suitable for industry and in numerous countries the pump of choice for sewage water systems."

Water drainage and water buffering

The pumps are suitable for various applications of general water works (repairing bridges or quay walls), but also for keeping foundation wells at wind farms dry. Van der Gaag: "Our pumps are also widely used for horizontal drilling. In that respect, we are very specialized but also super widely deployable." Van der Gaag notes that governments are starting initiatives in the field of emergency management. "The amount of rain that falls each year doesn't change that much, but the intensity and duration of rain showers do. Where the excess water used to have to be drained as quickly as possible, we now see that the sewers cannot cope and we have to look at buffering water. It remains to be seen how the market will move in this respect. In any case, our pumps are technically ready for this kind of challenge."

Mobile pump sets specifically for the GWW

A manufacturer of pumps for GWW contractors, Gorman-Rupp developed the S-Line, a series of mobile pump sets, in sizes 2-10 inches where volumes of 50-750 cubic meters/hour can be pumped. "These powerful machines were developed primarily with the future in mind: high performance, maximum reliability and the best materials. The pumps are silenced and thus extremely suitable for inner-city applications." Van der Gaag explains that they were initially developed for the GWW sector but also resonate well with water boards and as emergency pumps in industry. "Naturally, our entire package meets the Stage-V standard so that we can offer our customers pumps with the cleanest diesel technology. The S-line has been added to the rental fleet so that customers can try it out first before proceeding to purchase."

Entire process in-house

With the entire process in-house-from design and engineering to assembly, testing, delivery and maintenance-Gorman-Rupp offers customer-specific solutions. "From simple modifications in color to the construction of highly complex pumps that have enormous safety requirements, such as for a nuclear power plant outside the Netherlands, for which our experienced engineers have developed pumps."

Dutch market

"We recommend the most suitable pump from the wide range, depending on the desired performance from the customer. The customer is always at the center of our attention. We are an international company but very approachable, knowledgeable and make good products." Van der Gaag concludes, "We not only invest in training our own people, but also offer our customers the opportunity to learn more about our pumps in theory and practice at our extensive training center in Waardenburg."
