Piling is a trade and skill must be guarded

H. van Dieren Hei- en Waterwerken exists almost 100 years. That brings with it knowledge, experience and a company culture of its own, which clients are happy to take advantage of.

"Piling is our core business," says Harald van Dieren of H. van Dieren Hei- en Waterwerken. "We are really a piling company and we do that, from IJsselmuiden, throughout the country." The family business has been around for almost 100 years. "That we are a family business is characterized in the way we are ready for our customers. The approach and therefore the contacts with a family business are different and our clients notice and appreciate that."

Thanks to a wide range of machinery, H. van Dieren Hei- en Waterwerken can move flexibly and be where it's needed at the right time. "You can't get to every job with every machine. For example, some piling rigs cannot go on a site or the length of the pile does not match. It's then up to us to find a good solution for that."

Piling bridges and abutments

"Customers know that with us things will work out and that's why they call us," Harald says firmly. "The fact that we get it right means that we deliver quality. We stand by our work, we think that's very important. We want to keep our scheduling appointments with our customers, that's one of our priorities. And of course we make sure that the work is done well. After all, we still want to exist fifty years from now."

H. van Dieren Hei- en Waterwerken offers and takes on complete works and constantly seeks solutions with respect to planning and execution. As a result, customers stay. In the work, piling of bridges and abutments and headcutting of piles are common.

Thinking ahead

The family business is increasingly being asked to share all their knowledge in the preliminary stages, for example in a construction team. "We also have the knowledge and expertise for that. I think this is because practical knowledge is disappearing in many places. We pile a lot and mainly precast concrete piles and tubular steel piles. We notice that customers ask our advice when a different solution is prescribed. For example, when that system does not work well for the contractor. We then naturally look along and thanks to our experience we often arrive at a solution."

SCL step 3

H. van Dieren has a fully electric piling rig. Its capacity is not inferior to the diesel version, while the piling is emission-free. Intermediate charging is possible, but is not necessarily necessary thanks to the exchangeable batteries.

In the spring of 2024, the company expanded its SCC certification to include the Safety Culture Ladder (SCL), achieving Step 3 immediately.
