Mourik has existed since 1933. That is, that's when "the Mourik family business" was registered in the trade register of the Chamber of Commerce by Johannes Mourik. But our story begins earlier. In 1921 he was already cycling along houses in Groot-Ammers to install electricity. Entrepreneurship was always a typical Mourik trait. In 1937 brother J.C. Mourik became co-owner.
The brothers' family business initially focused on laying power lines. First above ground, but later also underground. After that, things moved fast. Earthwork became road building and infrastructure. And because Mourik was active in the Europoort and Botlek areas, industrial services to (petro)chemical companies were a logical next step. That was in 1957. Mourik crossed the border in 1974. This was also the starting point for our Belgian branch Mourik s.a. in Antwerp.
Since 2013, Mourik has been led by the third generation of the Mourik family, with Kees Jan Mourik as CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board. Under his leadership, Mourik further developed into a future-oriented family business with a clear strategy and a strong foundation.
As of February 1, 2026, Mourik is headed by Jan-Paul van den Bosch, who is building on this solid foundation. Ownership will remain with the Mourik family. Kees Jan Mourik and his sister Marianne Mourik remain closely involved as shareholders and guard the family DNA of the company.
With a strong sense of responsibility for future generations, Mourik opts for controlled growth. To this end, the strategy, Route Mourik, serves as a living compass. Driven by the same entrepreneurial spirit and ‘can-do’ mentality that made the company great, safety, sustainability and continuity are central to everything we do.

Now, almost 100 years after its official start, Mourik is a company with a turnover of 781 million euros, branches spread all over the world and with more than 2,200 employees worldwide. And we are not done doing business yet.

Our specialists in various disciplines work to provide our customers with the best possible service. Within infrastructure we are strong in road building, traffic management, maintenance of locks, dams, bridges and underground pipes. For the coming years, our challenges for infrastructure lie in providing solutions for sustainable construction and maintenance, mobility, climate change and energy.
