Staad Group at TKD with emission-free machinery

Although the entrepreneurial history of the Staadegaard family goes back to 1913, the Staad Group is celebrating its 10th anniversary at TKD. The importer for Develon (until recently Doosan) for the southern and central Netherlands is making a big splash at the largest open-air trade fair for earthmoving and construction equipment. In addition to a Develon stand with all Dutch dealers with no fewer than eight machines in operation, the Veghel-based company is also present with its own Staad-ECE (Electric Construction Equipment) stand. There everything for an emission-free construction site will be on display.

As of January this year, the familiar Doosan has a new name: Develon. That is a combination of the words "Develop" and "Onwards. The new brand name carries forward the direction of parent company Hyundai Doosan Infracore (HDI) to continue moving into the future through innovation and the intention to completely change the world with innovative products and solutions. All Dutch dealers, including the Staad Group, will thus be together at TKD in a substantial booth with brand new Develon machines.

Among others, the DX225LC-7X will be shown there to a large audience. That new generation of crawler excavators with a full electro-hydraulic control system enables advanced machine guidance and machine control. This includes a 2D and an expandable 3D grading system. The DX225LC-7X has higher digging forces and lifting capacities, yet lower fuel consumption. The larger models come with D-ECOPower to save fuel.

Electronic joystick

Technology on the machine includes programmable joystick switches for ease of operation, a fully electronic joystick, a rotation sensor and equipment sensors on the boom, stick, bucket and upper structure of the DX225LC-7X, including a laser catcher. This system allows the excavator to provide additional support for precision functions and tasks, resulting in increased productivity and efficiency.

The sensors recognize in real time the position of each implement and control the excavator arm to the centimeter in accordance with the schedule. The bucket and boom automatically follow the reference line, while the operator controls the arm. For the operator, the joystick and pedals are fully electric, but give the operator the same feel as regular hydraulic joysticks.

Quick charging system

But also on display is the first mass-produced electric excavator. The DX20ZE-7 is all-electric (zero emissions) and has low noise levels. The DX20ZE-7 has an electric motor and delivers a rated power of 13.7 kW (18.4 hp). The mini-excavator is powered by a 20.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack developed in-house at Develon, with all the machine's electrical systems and components optimized for work in harsh conditions.

A quick-charge system restores 80 percent of battery power after just one hour of charging, while the built-in charger regains maximum charge after six hours of charging. With its compact size, the DX20ZE-7 is an excellent solution for construction and rental companies working in sensitive areas that require low-noise or overnight work. The Develon booth also features no fewer than eight running machines, including the four-wheel drive DX100W-7 and the DX165W-7.

Electric Construction Equipment

About five years ago, the Staad Group began the first development ideas for converting a diesel excavator to an electric-powered model. This created the new branch within the Staad family: ECE (Electric Construction Equipment). Staad ECE is attending TKD with its own booth. Everything for a zero-emission construction site can be found there.

Because in 2020, Staad proudly launched the world's first 30-ton electric crawler excavator. And that DX300LC Electric can be admired in all its glory in Almere in June. In 2021, the first emission-free mobile excavator from our own production, the DX165W Electric, rolled out. Staad also started producing the accompanying battery, the Powerbox, itself that year. In March of this year, the so-called detachable energy storage system, or interchangeable energy storage system, was approved by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The granted patent fits seamlessly with the battery, a unique technical design that allows the battery to be used on the machine, but can also be removed from the machine and used as a 'standalone' battery. This means that the battery can be charged and discharged without the machine using the standard CCS2 connector. The battery can serve as both master and slave and this makes it possible to charge the battery with the use of, for example, solar panels at a private location.

Moreover, in 2022 a cooperation with Fendt (i.c.w. Agromec) arose, leading to the first four electric tractors. One of these can be seen in Almere. Also on display at TKD is the first electric wheel loader converted by Staad, the 30-ton DL280.
