Always a suitable training within the GWW

InfraVak, based in Holten, is the training company for the civil engineering sector. For the approximately forty member companies in the north and east of the Netherlands, the institute is continuously looking for BBL students who want to be trained as, for example, a GWW professional, road worker, machine operator or mechanic. To increase both their theoretical and practical knowledge, students can choose from ten different courses. This enables InfraVak to offer a suitable learning path for a variety of professional fields.

All training courses available through InfraVak focus on working and learning at the same time: an approach also known as BBL. "This means that the student goes to work at a training company four days a week and learns all the finer points of the trade from a regular apprentice," explains communications officer Kim Wever. "The theoretical part of the training the students learn at one of the ROCs we work with. We always consider which school best suits the student. The theory is designed to be immediately applicable in practice. In addition, each student receives additional practical guidance and training." 

The coordinators of InfraVak are on standby to guide and support students wherever possible. This may involve matters at school, within the training company or in the private sphere. During the winter period, the students also receive extra practical training. For this purpose, InfraVak has a special hall available where the students can follow additional practical lessons. In this way, they are optimally prepared for the practical exams. And that is precisely what makes InfraVak's courses so effective! 

Preliminary training

Most students start their education after high school. "Preferably, students have a completed vmbo education," Wever said. "But we also have opportunities for dropouts or lateral entrants.
