For more than 90 years, Aannemingsbedrijf QUALM has specialized in the design, construction, repair and maintenance of high-quality extinguishing systems for industry, petrochemicals, logistics and infrastructure, among others. But you have also come to the right place at Oranjelaan 43 in Rozenburg for carrying out ground work and (re)laying gas and drinking water pipelines. It makes the company led by Eric Mulders and his son Menno a special and versatile player.

Achieving optimal fire safety. For buildings, grounds, installations and especially people. "Regardless of the project approach or size, that is always the starting point when we are asked to provide a suitable extinguishing system," says Eric Mulders, who, together with his son Menno, heads the contracting company. "A system that is seamlessly integrated into the existing infrastructure of building and/or site and meets the client's requirements in every detail. We always provide the best fitting solution and are always the central point of contact for our clients. Even when we are asked to carry out partial sanitization, small-scale foundations and paving or to lay gas pipes, water pipes or sewers. Because those are also part of our activities."
A project recently successfully completed by QUALM's specialists involves the expansion of a sustainable and advanced central fire water system at the XL Businesspark on the A35 in Almelo. This large-scale and optimally accessible business park is distinguished by its high-quality collective park management, which includes a broadband fiber optic network, a central loading and unloading dock, 24-hour site security and the collective fire-extinguishing water system (CBV) realized by QUALM. Facilities which, thanks to joint procurement and smart maintenance and management, will provide future users of the XL Businesspark with substantial savings on the facilities front. "The CBV, consisting of two water tanks, a pump room and underground piping, provides the fire extinguishing water for all sprinkler systems and fire hydrants throughout the business park," Menno Mulders explained of the work completed by QUALM last February. "Instead of each building in the business park having its own pump room and water supply for sprinkler protection, each building connects directly to the CBV main line. This main line is also constructed in such a way that new connections or expansions can be made in the future without any problems."

Construction company QUALM installed approximately 200 meters of ductile iron pipe for phase 3 of the central firefighting water system, including 150 meters in 400 mm diameter and 50 meters in 250 mm. In addition, the company installed 15 valves for the various branch lines to the premises and five fire hydrants that guarantee the availability of sufficient fire-fighting water for the fire department in case of emergencies. "The nodular cast iron piping systems used by Saint-Gobain PAM not only guarantee excellent performance, but also excel in terms of durability," continues Eric Mulders. "This is because it is a solution that lasts up to 100 years and can also be infinitely and completely recycled. This in particular reduces the CO2-footprint of the piping system we used has been greatly reduced."
