Video surveillance specialist Siqura has supplied specially developed cameras and software for an integrated security solution in three key traffic tunnels in the Czech Republic. The modernization of the security solution was part of a large-scale renovation of the Valík, Klimkovice and Husovice tunnels.
The Valík Tunnel is 380 meters long, has two-way traffic and is located on the D5 highway. This highway, which opened in 2006, directs traffic around the city of Pilsen.
The Klimkovice Tunnel, inaugurated in 2008, is located on the D1 highway between Bílovec, Ostrava and Rudná near the town of Klimkovice. Traffic monitoring in the tunnel is performed by the Center for Highway Management and Maintenance in Ostrava.
The Husovice tunnel dates back to 1998. It is a road tunnel in the city of Brno, part of the I/42 road and the Brno City Ring Road (VMO) respectively.
Since July 2019, the technology in this last tunnel has been completely modernized (security, lighting, air conditioning, surveillance systems). Surveillance in the first two tunnels has also been updated.
For this project, Siqura proposed using the XCU Fusion and TrafficPTZ cameras. The XCU Fusion is a rugged camera with dual imaging (thermal/optical) for demanding environments. The camera is doubly protected against corrosion as it is made entirely of powder-coated stainless steel (316L). The housing is hermetically sealed from water and dust.
The TrafficPTZ Ultimo (TPU) is a high-precision, full-featured network PTZ camera that delivers high-quality images. The integrated 30x optical zoom, dual LED lighting and built-in image stabilization make the camera ideal for traffic applications. The camera works both day and night and is very easy to operate.
This tender had to take into account a tight deadline, with delays being unacceptable. Despite the short deadline, Siqura delivered all three projects on time, supporting its partner during the logistics process and installation and providing continuous commercial and technical assistance.
Zara van Vliet, International Sales Manager at Siqura B.V., was responsible for executing the project: "We managed to deliver the cameras, associated software and equipment within the limited lead time requested. After the completion of the technical phase in September 2019, an extensive test period started which has now also been completed."
