Welding inside and outside
Henk Lommers junior is proud of the 60th anniversary.

Indoor and outdoor welding

At Lommers Welding, they know what customers expect: just good welding, even under CE marking. This is more complex than it seems. Complying with standards, challenges on the construction site and always reaching a high level - it is challenging work. Gerda Lommers, co-owner of the family business, just loves that challenge. And the results are visible, as they often contribute to large construction projects.

Lommers Welding welds inside and outside. Parts made in the Purmerend workshop are welded to the final product on location. A combination that does not often occur within the welding world, but which the family business is extremely proud of. "We also work with an 'in-house' engineering firm which allows us to offer more than just on-site assembly. So we can also calculate and draw. So we speed up the work process by making prefabricated solutions in our workshop. It's a shift in the working relationship: from hired welding company to full partner, committed to the quality of the end result. For example, on the IJsselmeer, near Lelystad, we are involved in constructing Windplanblauw for Ballast Nedam. I can show my grandchildren that we worked on that and that is of course nice," says Lommers. The welding work on the wind turbines, on the water, is special work. Every day, welders sail toward the construction site, where they help build the foundations.

New challenge? Let's go for it!

This past year Lommers was involved in many more large and small projects. They performed welding work on the Afsluitdijk, on the IJ boulevard for a bicycle parking facility in the IJ, but there were also highlights in the form of technical challenges. "An engineering firm came to us asking us to fabricate a keel for a luxury yacht. This required welding a black-and-white joint, which is not part of Lommers Welding's core business. We did not have the capabilities for this specialized work ourselves. As we always do, we looked for a solution that would allow us to take on the project. Of course with all the necessary certifications."

Outside, we work with fully equipped mobile workshops, so we can do any job for you.

Meeting standards and set requirements is high on the priority list at Lommers Welding. You should not
only know you have skills, you have to be able to demonstrate them.

By continuously working with all quality requirements of the NEN-EN 1090, both in the workshop and on assembly, Lommers Welding delivers demonstrable quality. Moreover, for higher execution classes, a certified welding coordinator level C (IWE) is always available. So no challenge is too big for the welding company.

Certification as a top priority

In the most recent versions of both the NEN-EN 1090 and the ROK (Directive for the Design of Works of Art) there are requirements for the quality of welded joints on reinforcing steel. "To this end, Lommers has obtained welding method qualifications for the most common diameters and welded joints. A number of welders have also been trained specifically for welding to reinforcing steel, so we currently meet all the requirements of ISO 17660-1. To achieve that, you have to meet strict audits. So it's a real seal of quality for welding to rebar."

And that's not the only thing they have to celebrate. "This year we are celebrating our 60th anniversary, the company was founded by my parents-in-law. They started in a basement and it's still a family business. So we like to show that we are proud of what they started and what we have now continued with great pleasure together with our fantastic employees."
