With robust precast concrete solutions, Leicon Traffic Control makes an essential contribution to a traffic-safe, accessible and accessible infrastructure. With concrete solutions, they give a positive impulse to a sustainable living environment.
Wim van der Kamp has worked at Leicon Traffic Guidance since 2007. For a long time he was part of the field service, but since January 2022 he is branch manager. "Leicon is part of the large German concern Berding Beton and we have a branch in Steenwijk. We produce precast concrete elements for the entire GWW. For example, we make precast speed bumps to increase traffic safety."
What was intended as protection for the outside radius of traffic circles is now expanding into protection for literally all curves. "In many corners and on many traffic circles, piggyback/shock blocks or grass concrete are used as corner protection. But this is often not enough and then it gets broken. Our concrete tires are dimensionally stable, strong and also very durable. Once they are in place, you don't have to look at them anymore," says Van der Kamp.
He continues, "This protection is perfect for in bend radii where heavy traffic in particular comes. Like on industrial estates, but also in the countryside. Here you often see tractors and other heavy agricultural traffic destroying the corner in the same area over and over again. Then you can apply this protection very well. Our solution is available in the most common bend radii. It is also possible to apply one or more glass balls to increase the safety and visibility of the bend protection."
Leicon's products can be found in many places. "For example, at a huge industrial park in Venlo (Greenport), we fitted all the entrances and exits of the outside radius with our Leicon guide tires. In doing so, of course, we pay attention to drainage. We have a matching gully in our product range. But in many cases the tire line is interrupted to allow the water to follow its natural course to the verge. In the center of the curve we place such a break, so that the water can always flow into the verge."
Leicon likes to think and look ahead. The company is therefore constantly improving itself and its products. "For example, we have a prefabricated bus stop: GX. That is a further development on our bus stop GL, which we made a few years ago. On the new version we even apply blind guide lines, making it a very accessible product. Our special process with molds allows us to move quickly in customized products. In terms of continuing product development, we are never done."
