Qceas is a young and innovative company, specialized in the supervision and execution of projects in the maritime and civil sector and in particular underwater works. Ramon Wijgmans, General Manager at Qceas, says, "We purposefully seek the best and most cost-effective solutions and in doing so, we dare to look beyond the beaten path."
Diving work is, of course, unavoidable in the maritime and civil sectors. And a lot of diving work requires good divers. A good example of this innovative way of working is Qceas' diving team. For example, part of their team consists of ex-convicts who are given a chance for reintegration because Qceas has offered them training as divers.
Wijgmans explains, "Together with Stichting Herstelling, we offered a number of boys that opportunity. In a training of 5 to 6 weeks they obtained their B2 diving diploma. Some of the boys now actually work for us and already have many diving assignments behind their names."
Werner van Ommeren is one of the professional divers in Qceas' diving team: "Diving is a special experience, because you are not in your natural habitat. Moreover, no two jobs are the same: one day we are placing concrete underwater and the next day we are performing maintenance on a ship in the middle of the sea. Sometimes we even approach explosives. And all underwater!"
"Because the work is very diverse, on site we always look with the whole team to see how we can solve the job in the best way for the customer. We work with a young team, the atmosphere is very good and we get a lot of freedom and opportunities for growth."
"The best moment of my career? That was my first job as supervisor at the Suurhoff Bridge in Rotterdam on behalf of Tebezo. A ship had collided with one of the bridge piers. We then carried out the restoration of the underwater bottom and all other diving work. So you see: I started out as a metal worker, but by taking a leap of faith at Qceas, I now enjoy my various underwater activities every day!"
