For nearly 50 years, Excluton has been a supplier of an extensive range of concrete paving products. In recent years in particular, there has been a strong focus on making the range more sustainable, and two new concrete plants have even opened, the latest of which went into production in February 2022. Excluton is also the only Cradle to Cradle Silver certified paving manufacturer in Europe.
We help municipalities, architects, property developers, contractors and other clients find (innovative) paving solutions with better environmental performance for their infrastructure project, begins Jurriaan van der Ven of Excluton. "Our product range includes concrete pavers, concrete tiles, concrete tires and X-Con industrial slabs for public spaces. The demand for our products has therefore grown explosively in recent years. For this reason, we have ambitiously invested in people and resources to be able to qualitatively keep up with the growth in sales."
In mid-2021, the state-of-the-art clinker plant with robotized converter was put into operation to meet the increasing demand from the infra market, followed by opening of the industrial slab plant in early March 2022. "Since then, we can deliver X-Con industrial slabs directly from stock," says Thomas van Wijk, responsible for X-Con industrial slabs at Excluton. "We produce the industrial slabs in as many as 50 different sizes and designs ranging from single reinforcement, double reinforcement, a slippery or ridged surface and everything in between. So you can make a lot of meters of (temporary) paving in a very short time frame and with relatively low laying costs."
Excluton uses the latest technologies in production. "A big advantage of this is that our materials cure much faster than before," Van der Ven knows. "With that, our production capacity has also increased substantially. We are very strong in bulk; hardening large areas." Excluton has an independently operating logistics organization that coordinates deliveries to all major projects. "For example, we recently delivered over 90,000 m2 of paving for a project just-in-time. Therein lies our great strength; thanks to our enormous production capacity, we can deliver mostly from stock."
Depending on the application, Excluton creates mixtures with a very high percentage of circular material. "Thanks also to a mobile crusher on our site," says Van der Ven. "In addition, we have been experimenting with cementless concrete for some time. We will launch a new product based on that too in the near future. So we are certainly not sitting still. Sustainability is definitely a spearhead in our organization. All the MKI values and LCAs of our entire product range have been mapped out and validated by an independent party. This makes it very easy for clients in projects to manage these performances; after all, we simply get them off the shelf for our products."
