Again giant wheel loaders for corps of commando troops

Following the delivery of a GIANT G2200 X-TRA HD+ to Defense in May last year, the Corps of Command Troops unit recently opted again for two machines from TOBROCO-GIANT. The GIANT G3500 X-TRA and GIANT G2700 X-TRA HD+.

Zij zochten een wiellader met zoveel mogelijk CAN-bus-aansluitingen voor de nieuwe opleiding die zij ontwikkelen. Bij deze opleiding gaat om het trainen van personeel op het gebied van CAN-bus en hydraulische systemen. Met de keuze voor de GIANT G2700 X-TRA HD+ groeit de kennis van Defensie, op het gebied van elektronica, mee met de ontwikkelingen. En daarmee biedt één partij, TOBROCO-GIANT, de oplossing voor meerdere vraagstukken bij Defensie. 

The Korps Commandotroepen (KCT) is the special unit of the Royal Netherlands Army whose mission is to prepare and conduct Special Operations as part of allied defense and crisis management tasks. The KCT is ready for operational deployment 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world.

Versatility and customization prevail

The Korps Commando Troepen initially had the idea of looking for a tractor for launching and removing vessels from the water. Here, however, they ran into various limitations and so the question about the possibilities was put to TOBROCO-GIANT. Especially since the G2200 X-TRA HD+ has already proven itself when it comes to availability and reliability.

During a demonstration at the training center, it was seen how the machine would be used. On the basis of this, TOBROCO-GIANT developed a special, custom-made drawbar adapter for launching and retrieving various vessels. It is suitable for both a K50 and NATO hitch, has a hydraulically operated safety device and is adjustable to the left and right. The G3500 X-TRA was delivered with various attachments to enable it to perform a wide range of jobs. In addition to a hitch adapter, a leveling bucket with side plates, pallet fork and sweeper were also supplied. With this, the G3500 X-TRA can also be used to maintain the grounds around the Wetlands Training Center.

With the X-TRA model of the G3500 series, KCT has chosen a machine

with a high tipping load (4,100 kg) compared to its own weight (3,700 kg). The hydrostatic 4-wheel drive with automotive steering and 100% switchable lock on both, 14-ton axles, prevents the machine from losing grip and provides enough tractive effort for smooth movement. As standard, the machine is already very complete with things like an air-suspension seat, anti-theft guard and float position on the lift cylinder. But in order to use the wheel loader optimally and all year round, a spacious full-option cab, LED traffic lights, additional LED work lights and road specification for the Netherlands have been chosen. For hauling trailers and trailers, the G3500 X-TRA is equipped with a combination tow bar and 13-pin plug.

Good order

The unit at the Logistics Education and Training Center (OTCLof) had different requirements. Not only to the machine. The choice of the G2700 X-TRA HD+ was made not only because the machine is compact ánd the biggest powerhouse in this series. For the training of the unit, it is important that the technical documentation is in good order. The software is easy to read and detailed parts manuals are available. In addition, TOBROCO-GIANT has technical, electrical and hydraulic diagrams. All this information is available online, for customers with an account.

GIANT boosts modernization of construction equipment fleet

The G2200 X-TRA HD+ is the first TOBROCO-GIANT machine purchased by the Defense Forces Command Unit. In order to conduct special operations properly, it is important to be able to conduct professional training at a base with good facilities. The same applies to the equipment used on and around the base. TOBROCO-GIANT soon came into the picture at Defense. A Dutch company with a Dutch product of very good quality. Therefore, a complete GIANT with cab, road approval, additional hydraulic options and various GIANT attachments was chosen.

De machine is voorzien van A-componenten, zoals een Kubota motor en onderdelen van Bosch. Bovendien biedt TOBROCO-GIANT een landelijke service dekking. De G2200 X-TRA HD+ wordt door het Korps Commando Troepen gebruikt voor het onderhouden van het KCT-tentenkamp in Rucphen. Hiervoor is gekozen om de machine uit te rusten met een grondbak, puinbak en een hydraulisch verstelbare vorkenbord. Met meer dan 200 verschillende aanbouwdelen in het programma èn de mogelijkheid tot maatwerk, biedt TOBROCO-GIANT voor iedere situatie een oplossing.  Met de komst van de G2200 X-TRA HD+ bij Defensie is een belangrijke stap gezet in het moderniseren van de bouwmachinevloot van Defensie.
