"Don't let the name fool you. We do more than just drilling, we are a large, technical service provider in concrete processing. We drill, cut and repair reinforced concrete wholesale, within the infrastructure and construction sectors." We speak with Onno Dikkerboom, director and owner at Interboor Midsland BV. His company has been involved in the New Lock project in Terneuzen from the beginning. For example, Interboor recently drilled recesses in the diaphragm walls of the inner and outer head.
According to Onno, Interboor Midsland is the market leader in the retrofitting of structural anchors. With their expertise in machining and repairing concrete, Interboor Midsland entered into a framework contract with contractor combination Sassevaart. "An advantage of working with Interboor Midsland is the fact that we perform precision drilling that is dust-free and low-noise. Our drilling work has no impact on the surrounding concrete and causes no nuisance in the surrounding area," Onno said. "We keep structures and eardrums in one piece."
In the diaphragm walls of the inner and outer head, Interboor Midsland drilled recesses. "That was technical drilling work, where you have to be careful not to hit the rebar. We always use diamond tools and drill either electrically high-frequency, or hydraulically. Thanks to a stable drilling rig, we can work precisely. Incidentally, we also make the drilling rig to size, if the situation requires it," Onno outlines. The 150 recesses drilled are holes 80 cm deep and 300 mm in diameter. They are located at the top of the diaphragm walls. "In these, the contractor has placed steel beams to which formwork can be attached, for the installation of concrete walls."
For Interboor Midsland, most drilling, sawing and repair work is "business as usual. The company can now be found at almost every major infra or construction project in the Netherlands. "For 90% we work in the Benelux, sometimes we make a trip to other countries. We work with fully certified and well-trained professionals who have love for their craft. With five offices in the Netherlands, we are always close to a major project. That is not only logistically ideal, it is also good for a smaller CO2 footprint," concludes Onno.
